Taken serval friends to The Ship in Burnham on Crouch this evening after booking six weeks in advance.
Frequented this pub on a few occasions and it was delightful, food, drink, service and atmosphere, so highly recommended it to our friends.
What a total and absolute disaster this evening 26th of July.
The manager/owner almost throw the menus at us to start the evening, no good evening absolutely no communication, no starters and the main course we waited an hour for, very mediocre when arrived.
Our waitress was not briefed or knowledgeable about the menu when questioned about the food, ( maybe it was her first shift but she should have been supported by other members of the waiting staff if this was the case.
Deserts were passable but my Eton Mess was a poor excuse for the real thing.
And to finish the evening our bill came and our deposit hadn?t been subtracted.
The restaurant was extremely busy so no excuse for such poor service and atmosphere.
There are plenty of good pubs in Burnham
so in my opinion the management really need to up their game in hospitality.

Nice, friendly staff and good food. Lovely location near the sea but not too close. Very busy on a beautiful hot day, as you'd expect. Clean facilities

we phoned at very short notice but managed to get a table .the staff were very friendly and accommodating as my wife has delicate dietary requirements.
all of the meals were very nice .we will certainly go back and would highly recommend.

The food was very good especially the scotch eggs. The calamari was lovely but not enough of it. The chips were great but again only seven of them. The seating in the bar area needs sorting out a bit and toilets were very clean. Just a few minor tweaks and it would be so much better.

Decor beautiful, food good, the issue with this establishment is the obnoxious owner. She was more interested in ordering the staff around while she relaxed at the bar with friends, than dealing with the issue we had. I was really looking forward to going to the other restaurant she owns The New London in Chelmsford, but after seeing how rude she was, I?ll give it a miss. Definitely should not be working in customer service! I wish this wasn?t the case as this has the makings to be a superb place, just a real shame. The young lady who served our table was brilliant though, so I would not say all staff.
