We fell through the door last thing at night, and boy am I glad we did. The food was delicious. Freshly cooked, and served up by lovely staff. We were so well fed and content. I think it's fair to say that other people at different tables were aswell, because we all ended up talking and laughing together. The whole vibe is spot on. 10/10.

Food was very good, and they seated 5 of us at short notice when Curry Cottage could not seat us even though we had booked one week prior. They tried to seat us in an area not normally used, but when we sat there, a strong drain smell was so bad we had to move away from it.

Being from the Eastend, and know a good curryhouse, I find it hard not giving this restruant less than 5 star, be it half empty or packed full; I am there for the food, and being a curry lover I am nearly always in heaven. I love how this restruant uses the young locals as part of their staffing, all positive stuff. The meaning of life: Smiling faces, good curry, just wish the decor was claret and blue :)

Reading other reviews, it appears the restaurant has lost its way, and sadly I am adding to this, as our experience was not great. We arrived as soon as the restaurant opened and were served stale popadums - you could bend them, so clearly these were 'old'! I could not describe how the peshwari nan tasted, but we ordered two of them and two of us took one bite and left the rest! The mains were pretty tasteless and bland and most of our party didn't finish the food. Taste is subjective, so others may enjoy the food, but sadly I won't be returning until there is a new chef...

Not living in the area, this restaurant was among a few within a 5 mile radius that we were recommended. We chose it because its website had an amazing looking dish on the front page. At the restaurant the staff were friendly and willing to talk through dishes. The menu was quite extensive without being overwhelming. For the uninitiated there was a menu with full descriptions of the dishes. The service was excellent - quick with the drinks and poppadoms, then slower and giving more time for us to choose our dishes. The food was well presented and the portion sizes just right. Our different dishes were excellent and just per the menu descriptions. We will definitely go to The Polash next time we have cause to visit Southend. Our thanks to the people who gave us the recommendation and to all the staff for their humour, conversation and service to make our dinner a completely enjoyable meal and a great evening out.
