They told me they would call me when it my car was mot'd, but didn't. They said they would let me know if it didn't pass and then how much to fix it. They didn't. They failed it, and I only went there as I joined Halfords, motoring club which cost me approximately 70 to join, which meant I got my mot for free and a bit of a discount off further purchases on items in Halford. But they failed my car, useless place. I took it straight to another garage elsewhere, only to get a pass on the mot, and a advisory note on one thing.....I will not be going back there again. I'll go to Steve Motts, 100% trustworthy.

Helpful and happy instantly acknowledged us and advised us of process
Allowed to wait for MOT as dad poor mobility
In that hour we saw the staff treat all customers with respect and decency which is rare these days

I've had two MOTs done here and the customer service on both of them has been great!
The second MOT was a fail, but the tester was happy to explain to me what the car had failed on and how I could go about fixing it. The receptionist Amy was super friendly and helped me book a retest, and she was even able to find and quote me for a replacement part the following day!
So far, I have had a brilliant experience at this Autocentre, and I will continue to bring my cars here for their future MOTs. ?

Took my car for Wheel alignment today 10/07/25 15:30
The only reason why i need it was because the mechanic in the other garage did the alignment 2 month ago without straightening the steering wheel so it was just pointing a bit to the left but still going strait.
Anyway the booking was at 3:30pm and the car went on the ramp at 17;00-17:10 and 40 min later they could not complete the alignment as the bolts were seized up? and the solution is new TieRod even if the alighment was done two months ago.
Really disappointed?. big company like Halfords to do such things and try to make you buy parts that is nothing wrong with?.
Is like bring your not broken car and we will fix it for you just pay us?.

I had my car serviced at Halfords at Braintree on 23 June - I have used the Autocentre before although not for a major service - very impressed, the work was completed on time and to my complete satisfaction
My wife's car is booked in for this Friday and I am 100% confident about the service I will receive - I/we will be back and I must mention how helpful and patient Amy on the front desk was to me -a real credit to the business

I did my brake pads at halfords to have the brake pads for life deal. Have you ever heard the saying too good to hear true. Well this is the case, I just brought my car in today (19th June) for rear brake pads as they were supposed to be for free. My rear brake pads are extremely low i am a mechanic so i know, and decided to bring my car here as i dont have the computer to release the electric motor at the rear pads. Not only a brake check should be 30 min as that what they say before you book your car in. It took them 2 HOURS !!! Just to check my brakes !!!! Which is unprofessional and false advertisement. On top of that when I received the call they said that my brake discs are too low, which is impossible as they are 6-7 months old. So their whole money grabbing business is you bring your car for ?free brake pads? but they also say you need new brake discs if you want the ?free brake pads? there is nothing free from this shop its all a money grabbing scheme.

I came here for tyre repair as I had a puncture, I saw through the window they looked at it and claimed there was nothing they could do and said I needed to buy a whole new tyre. I then went to a local tyre garage and told them what happened and they said that the wheel was out of place and leaking air so they hit it back into place with a hammer and it was good to go, free of charge too! Do not recommend here.

No issues with the staff but major issues with Halfords booking system if you?re booking a service and MOT, this effectively resulted in a completely wasted day?s holiday as ?the system? internally books times for both elements which don?t necessarily work to the customers advantage nor is it obvious when making an on-line booking. Formal complaint to Halfords HQ incoming!
