Food was poor. The fish was boil in the bag and the French stick with the ploughman?s had been reheated The waitress with long dark hair was trying to get as much money as possible out of people for tips. We were overcharged on our bill but didn?t realise until after we left. Definitely would not recommend or go back

This is the best home-cooked ?traditional? English seaside restaurants I have visited. Wide choice of food, reasonably priced, five of us all had different meals - fish, pies, salads etc - all well-presented and beautifully cooked. And the bonus is a delightful tea rooms full of fascinating nick knackery and an outside eating area as well

What a lovely little place this is! We sat inside (as a family of 5 - parent, kids & grandparents) & everywhere you looked there was something quirky & interesting to feast your eyes on - from vintage car collectors cards, to ration books & hanging tea cups. The food was great & very good value - real home cooked delicious food, very generous portion sizes & considering we all ordered five different mains, it arrived very quickly & cooked perfectly. With 2 fussy children in tow - the menu options were very good & varied, & both kids really enjoyed their meals (steak pie, broccoli, carrots, peas & chips and plaice fish, chips & peas). Both said they would be very happy to go back again soon. So hats off to those in the kitchen, as well as the gentleman waiting on us, for a wonderful lunch. We look forward to returning. They also do traditional cream teas with fresh scones, so will definitely be returning to try those soon too.

Such a sweet place with a sunny garden area & delicious, affordable food. We had a deal which included a toastie, soft drink & scone for only £11.50! Would really recommend as a stop on the undercliff walk.

Visited this quaint cafe and had the best cream tea I have had in a long time. Great service too. Plenty of seating inside and outside.

Such a lovely find! Menu gives lots of options. Had to try the lemon cream tea and it was delicious! We also had the lemon drizzle cake which was equally delicious. We were looking around at those getting meals and they smelt delicious, although we certainly didn't question our choice. A very friendly atmosphere. The waitress was just delightful, smiley and helpful. We had our dog with us and she was attentive to him too.Highly recommend a visit. It is next to a Costa Coffee where they were not busy at all however Trellis was very busy and I can see why. We made a wise choice in where we ate and would highly recommend a visit.

Took Dad for a Cream Tea on Father's Day on the recommendation of friends. The Trellis Cafe is an awesome experience! You can sit out in the garden surrounded by gorgeous flowers, colourful parasols and the sweetest tame sparrows, or inside in the retro tearooms full of quirky antiques, delicious-looking baking and Glen Miller! The Cream Tea was out of this world. I've never tasted such lush scones, homemade jam and loads of cream. Not usually a big fan but I am now. My mum was so excited she could have fresh made gluten free scones and said they were gorgeous, as well as the china teapots. Was lovely to enjoy real quality time with 3 generations here.

Had a delicious toasted sandwich followed by the best scone I have had in ages with cream and strawberry jam. Plus a coffee. All for under £11.

Quaint and homely little place. We felt very welcome and were delighted to find this place open when everywhere else in Rottingdean was closed. We had tea/hot chocolate and homemade vegetable & spiced lentil soup served with crusty bread and butter. It was absolutely delicious. It is very busy in here with many things to catch your eye, a good selection of food and cakes either for a meal or tea and a quick bite. I?d very much recommend this place and hope to return.

Very quick, efficient and pleasant service as we had a bus to catch. Because of the efficiency we were able to enjoy the delicious tea/coffee and cakes without feeling hurried. We are looking forward to a further visit.

On a temporarily sunny moment, we dropped in for tea and cake. Wonderful ambiance, friendly service and fabulous cake. We`ve been before and it`s always great and therapeutic. You feel better for the experience. The tea was very tasty and served in beautiful cups- just enough for two in a big pot and plenty of hot water. The coffee and walnut cake was delicious with strawberries, whipped cream (?) and a butterscotch drizzle served on delightful windmill plates. There were also extra separate walnut pieces. This place is such a treat and beneficial in our times without being twee. Even a visit upstairs to the toilet is a delight in this old cottage. Enough said, do go yourself!!!
