Great place to stay with a fantastic location.
Food delicious, particularly enjoyed the breakfast set up.
Every member of staff was so friendly and helpful, and couldn?t do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Will definitely recommend!!

Lovely staff, excellent food, super clean, loved the breakfasts, the place has a real sense of relaxed charm and style. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, even if the room/bed is on the small side - but everything else made up for that. We will be back!

Our stay was so excellent, I loved every moment of it and my only complaint is that it was too short.
Even prior to the trip the staff were so helpful with helping us arrange taxis, make amendments and all else. Prior to arrival, we went for a vineyard tour and wine tasting + lunch at Gusbourne wine estate - partner of The Gallivant - which I?d highly recommend! And also meant our stay had a discount.
The staff were so fantastic, I do not want to name them individually because to do so would be unfair on the 1-2 names that I have unfortunately forgotten but just as much contributed to the amazing stay.
The room was gorgeous, so considered and detailed. In fact, I have to add, a complimentary upgrade to the best room, the luxury garden room. It delivered on its name and it was such a pleasant surprise, especially knowing that they had become fully booked on short notice in light of the heatwave.
Also whilst this, of course, could not have been intentional; I am a filmmaker and so was delighted to find a copy of 501 must see movies in my room! We turned it into a game and tried to guess as many films as possible that were in there. I
On the topic of games we also loved how well-stocked the lounge was. The cocktail names escape me but I thoroughly enjoyed the two elderflower ones! Tiniest of critiques that doesn?t impact my score at all; as part of the complete package we had ?wine at 5? and I think it would be helpful to clarify what this is. With the advertised one hour window, our assumption wasn?t that it would?ve been a single glass of wine each! So just some clarity on the information given online on that would be fab.
I don?t know how much more I can say here other than the Michelin guide key (which I was not aware of prior) is so well deserved. Have already started shouting about The Gallivant to my friends and hope a future stay awaits me in the future.

We had a wonderful time with you this week. We were so touched by the upgrade to our room to help us celebrate our 25 years being married. We absolutely loved the room. The bedding was divine and really appreciated the decor. We loved the wine at 5pm and it was a nice opportunity to try English wine. We enjoyed the snug area and cosy atmosphere of the bar. We are enthusiastic board game players and it was great to have so many options and some which definitely had a touch of nostalgia. The evening meal was delicious - the bar service was excellent and so personal. The only slight issue was that we had already finished our starters by the time our wine arrived! The breakfast was delicious - and loved every aspect of it. We enjoyed the yoga - although it was definitely challenging! Nikita gave us such a warm and lovely welcome. Our only disappointment was that we hadn?t booked a 2 night stay!

Lunch at The Gallivant, located right on the stunning sands of Camber Beach, is a seaside culinary experience that delights at every bite. From the moment you arrive, the gentle sea breeze and sweeping coastal views set the tone for something truly special.
Their seafood selection is nothing short of exquisite. I savored perfectly grilled seabass?moist, flaky, and bursting with fresh flavor?as well as generously portioned Devon crab cakes, crisp on the outside and tender inside. The shellfish platter, a celebration of the sea, featured the freshest oysters, prawns, and mussels, all impeccably presented. Served with zesty lemon wedges, seaweed salad, and artisanal bread, each element complemented the next in harmony.
The menu also includes a wonderfully light seafood chowder?creamy yet clean-tasting, brimming with chunks of fish, clams, and delicate herbs. Portions are generous without being overwhelming, and the presentation?bright, colorful, and thoughtfully plated?enhances the whole experience.
Service at The Gallivant is friendly and unpretentious, matching the relaxed beachfront setting. It?s easy to linger over a second glass of crisp wine or a refreshing limoncello.
In short, lunch here is more than a meal?it?s a seaside celebration of fresh, beautifully prepared seafood in a relaxed, sunlit setting. If you?re by Camber Beach and love the sea?s bounty, this spot is a must.

Every detail in your stylish hotel has been thought of . From beach chairs and dry robes to the design of the rooms. We loved the 4pm cakes, 5pm free glass of wine and cocktails in the dunes . The staff from everyone in reception to the restaurant staff were warm and helpful. The food was amazing , the breakfast delicious and a different and healthy take on a great start to the day. The gardens make the place so special , secret places to sit and enjoy the quiet.

I really wanted to give this five stars. The vibe is amazing, the decor imaginative and there are lots of nice touches to make your seaside stay fun. If you are a townie having a weekend at the seaside, everything is laid on so you don?t have to bring the things you probably don?t have. The food menu was a bit limited but very well prepared and totally delicious. The service started well and to be fair ended well but in between ? well there wasn?t any. If you are paying £75 plus a head for a simple evening meal I would expect the staff to be checking in on me, offering a drink top up or more this and that. But no, we were left alone and my desire for more wine was unrequited. So, marked down big time on that. Such a pity, everything else was so good.

This is the third or fourth time I have stayed and my third dinner in the last few weeks and so, clearly you are doing most things right in my view! A couple of perhaps obvious comments: 1. Staff attitude and response is crucial and Oscar was an ideal person to welcome us on this occasion and the staff at dinner and breakfast were all excellent. 2. The table and tray at breakfast is a tad complicated and unnecessarily confusing with for instance muesli on the table and then granola and yogurt on the tray. Also for an establishment of this quality you should offer eggs other than boil your own!

Lindsay and her team made us feel at home from the moment we arrived until we left. Nothing was too much trouble. It?s the perfect mix of informality and stunning food and accommodation. Special mentions to Maisie who embodies great service and has an amazing career to come - iced coffee best ever and Fergus who is a calm influence across bar and restaurant. Positives: Glassware perfect and perfectly clean. Steak Tartare perfectly seasoned. Clafoutis is a triumph. We can?t wait to come back. Thank you

Just spent 2 nights at The Gallivant. Wonderful chilled out vibe. fabulous decor, excellent cocktails, wine list, menu and breakfast offering.
The staff are super welcoming, helpful, knowledgable and work as a solid team, ensuring a smooth and tight operation. Well done. We?ll be back.

Lindsay is amazing! The whole team were so friendly and welcoming during our stay.
Our room was perfect. We booked Gallivant to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary and so the postcard in our room was an added special touch.
We thought it was lovely that they had all the necessities for the beach available to the guests - sun hat /beach mat /towels/umbrella etc.
The only one thing which we would?ve liked is a fridge in our room to put our Champagne in ??
Other than that we had an amazing short stay.
We have already recommended The Gallivant to our friends .

We had a brilliant time, it's such a lovely place, our room was gorgeous and every member of staff made us feel truly welcome. I was struck by how happy everyone seemed to be there and that had a massive positive impact on our experience. Our whole break was so restful that it felt twice as long as it was. Can't wait to go back!

Did you know The Gallivant have a Head of Happiness. Lyndsay Austin is quite probably my favourite person right now. Due to my wife?s 102 year old grandmother falling and breaking her wrist resulting in us cancelling a celebration of our 20 year anniversary within the 14 day cancellation period, Lyndsay took pity and refunded us. Thank you so much.

Every member of staff were so welcoming, helpful, knowledgable and kind.
If we had to pick one member of staff that stood out, it would actually be so difficult to say. They were all so lovely.
We were particularly impressed with all board games, the cute notice board and the quality of food.
Absolutely loved the art work and decor.
We can?t wait to come back!
