I had never been to portslade before but found myself there with an hour to kill. so wandered up the hill and once I had passed all the cafes and takeaways I found this beautiful traditional looking pub and thought it would be rude to not pop in . I didn?t regret it. Lovely cosy atmosphere as soon as I walked in. Food smelled amazing . Warm welcome at bar and possibly the best pint of Guinness I?ve had in years . Just wish I had more time to try the food . If I?m ever back in portslade I will make a point of going back .

A 25 minute wait for two sharing plates and the food was barely warm. Didn't complain as we had already waited long enough. Mentioned it when leaving and got a 'sorry'. Hot food is meant to be served hot, not luke warm, especially chicken. Disappointing as we'd like to support this local business but although it was edible it wasn't enjoyable. Not recommended for food.

Stopped for a quick drink on a rainy day.
Service was friendly, immediate jokey banter with the staff which I love.
Cider was cold.
The menu looked good and we would have tried the food if we had more time.

It?s changed an awful lot from the pub I tempered from 30 years ago which is why I was sceptical when my mates suggested going there but it?s now a very nice place with a pleasant atmosphere and generally just a nice place to go

The £15 prosecco on Friday evenings is great, and we love the garden. But the loud heavy rock music is so bad we are not sure we will continue to come. We did ask for something more generic with a Friday night vibe, but they just turned it down a bit, it was still the same awful music.
Such a shame as we have been coming after work on Fridays for ages.
