Family friendly is how i would describe this little spot, friendly staff, a big garden and play area for the kids. I did not ?love? the food however.

Nice garden with great views over the countryside. We enjoyed a beef roast and Mac n cheese which was promptly served and tasty. Beer well kept and staff courteous

Stayed in May 2025 on a Saturday evening for a night away and to explore the surrounding areas. We stayed in the Waterfields room and it was beautiful - gorgeous beams and great modern bathroom while still keeping the traditional theme. Coffee machine, tea and lovely toiletries provided. The food downstairs was delicious (we recommend the brie, calamari, steak and scampi), generous portions, brilliant service and extremely reasonably priced. Alcohol prices very fair too. The breakfast menu is a little limited but I was served perfect poached eggs so no complaints. Staff were very attentive and friendly. We would return in a heartbeat.

I wandered into this pub purely by instinct (and the smell of fried food) and was not disappointed. Ordered the scampi and chips ? which arrived looking like Poseidon himself hand-battered them with love and a bit of vengeance. Crispy perfection. The chips? So good I nearly proposed to one.
Now, let?s talk about the beer garden. This isn?t just a garden ? it?s the Eden of pub gardens. Heated pods are scattered around like high-tech hobbit holes, perfect for when the British weather inevitably turns into something out of a gothic novel. Rain? Pfft. I was toasty and smug.
And the dog bowls? Not for me, obviously (unless things go terribly wrong), but nice to know that canine companions can hydrate in style. I almost brought a stray in just to justify using one.
The staff? Genuinely polite. Not that fake ?I?m smiling but internally screaming? politeness. Actual warm, friendly service like you?ve just walked into their living room and they?re about to offer you tea and family gossip.
10/10 would scampi again.

We went in for a meal at our booked table and were totally ignored for a while by a sour faced older blonde woman. She remained unpleasant at best the rest of the time she/we were there. We were left sitting at our table without anyone taking an order. My husband approached the bar to give the order as we were not instructed about what to do. The sour faced woman told us we would have to wait as the kitchen wasn't open (it was due to open in 2 minutes so you would have thought it would have been prudent to just take the order). We were left sitting for almost half an hour without anyone coming over. Other people who came after us had their orders taken and my husband had to approach the bar again to get our order in. Frankly l would have preferred to leave due to the ignorance alone. The lady that brought our meals (older lady with brown hair) was however very pleasant and friendly. The food was lovely so can't fault that. Clearly customer service skills are required for some and generally more staff required. Things were not helped by a relatively large table whose children were constantly running backwards and forwards through the restaurant and bar area, stamping and jumping around. Perhaps patrons should be told to exercise more control for all concerned. We would not return. Totally chaotic.

Stopped off for lunch mid week,
Was amazed how wonderful the toasted sandwich was presented and tasted. Served with garlic chips, totally filled that lunch time hunger

Drinks were average unfortunately service was awful,
Younger women working frowned when we asked (after 10 minutes of her and her colleague chatting) for some service . Felt like a huge inconvenience to the business. Despite being very high priced drinks.
