Don't buy fish from here mine all died within 48hrs the manager is a bully who doesn't know enough about animals to be selling them i was miss sold a fish by the manager claiming it to be a completely different varient of the fish I was criticised for having a particular fish in my community tank

This is always been my go to for all our pet supplies,fish for last few years. We had some bad experiences recent months. First was when we got our pet rats from them. They were sick and was seen by doctors for first time and they confirmed they were sick from the store and the manager at that time refused to permit for the treatment even when it was their fault after a long conversation and arguments he agreed.
Then after some time we got some snails and fish and the snails all died in the bag itself and they said they?re not gonna replace or refund even when we showed them photos of them being in the bag that we literally taken couple of minutes later.
And this time i visited the store to buy some soil for my planted tank and most of the shelves were empty. There was only one bag of soil and i went to counter asked if they can help me get another one. She didn?t check she said if it?s not there there is none. So i insisted they usually have stuff on back and all the shelves are empty so please check and then said no we don?t. Then another colleague came over so she asked her to check and she turned to her colleague and bitching about me cz i wanna buy something that i want. So unprofessional and rude. I don?t think she is fit for customer service industry. If you don?t want to sell or support customers what?s your whole purpose and getting paid for? Also observed everytime a customer walking into store she was quite judgmental about them like why they coming here.

Absolutely appalled by the treatment I received at this [Pets at Home location] today. I?ve been a loyal customer for years, regularly visiting with my dogs as part of our walks to pick up treats and check out the rabbits. Never had an issue?until today, when my elderly pug, Pedro, was banned for the crime of? walking into the store off-lead.
Pedro is an old, chunky, and utterly harmless pug who never strays more than a few feet from me. However, an uptight customer with a sausage dog (who, by the way, was happily wagging its tail) decided to complain that Pedro was a threat. The next thing I knew, an incredibly rude staff member named Sarah stormed over and abruptly told me to leave. No polite request, no discussion?just instant hostility.
When I asked if this was company policy and if they could simply lend me a lead, she flat-out refused. I asked to speak to a manager, to which she smugly replied, ?I AM the manager,? before dramatically stomping off.
I then went to pay for my dog food, and she loudly announced across the store, ?The manager is coming to see you,? as if I was some sort of criminal. A second staff member then charged up to me, barking orders in my face like a pit bull, repeating that it was ?company policy? (which no one has ever enforced in all the years I?ve visited). Meanwhile, Pedro?overwhelmed by the ridiculousness of it all?simply lay down for a nap on the floor.
To top it off, the complaining customer then tried to justify her paranoia by saying her dog had been attacked by a pug before. Completely irrelevant. Some dog owners are the problem, not the dogs.
This entire situation was an embarrassing display of terrible customer service. Instead of a friendly reminder about store policy (which I would have happily followed), I was treated with outright hostility, made to feel unwelcome, and publicly humiliated.
If this is how they treat long-standing customers, I?ll be taking my business elsewhere. Avoid this store if you expect even a basic level of courtesy.

Went in this afternoon firstly on my own to ask what animal would be more suitable for my son who is little, a very lovely person called emnie at the newhaven store helped me from beginning to end.... she's a fantastic sales colleague just so attentive and passionate! Made everything feel effortlessly so easy , and informed me about everything without pushing to much, it was a fantastic experience... I went straight home picked my son up and took him in here to see her as I knew being a great person she would be amazing with him. She was she sat him down for the animal out and positioned the animal so well really caring for them it was so nice to see ! I will be a new customer here and I will purchase everything here in the future, pets at home your very lucky to have such fantastic staff , thank you for the experience!!!! And the lady and man feeding the animals were great to , what a great team you have there!

For a pet specialist shop, their prices should be a lot lower than the supermarkets, but it?s not. It is still worth shop around for products. Which is a shame, as it would be nice to go there for all your pet needs, knowing also you?re getting the best price. Another thing, why does click and collect takes so long between the click and the collect? I?ve got a local store, so you would think it would be quicker to order in the morning and pick up in the afternoon, but no, you better take your chances and visit the store to get what you want, instead of waiting two days to do so. For me, personally, click and collect is pointless. Everything else is top notch, the staff, the website, hence the 3 stars ?

Decent pets at home there are worse and there are better. Over all friendly and helpful. Bit overpriced of course but that's the shop.
