Visited here for a family Sunday roast for the first time. Young guy who served us looked scruffy, unkempt and dishevelled, which is not a good advertisement for anywhere serving food. This guy was an immediate red flag for me on first impressions and kind of put us off ordering anything to eat, to be fair.
They were quite busy too, and everyone seemed rushed, which under the circumstances was understandable.
Anyway, there we sat trying to envisage the place as the quaint, quiet, friendly, relaxed local pub portrayed in all the brochures, but on this particular day, we could not.
We will however give them another try, maybe when they are less busy, during the week perhaps.
In the meantime, however, it?s only 2 stars awarded from us, sorry guys.
(Couldn?t rate the food either, in the end we only had a quick drink and left. Again, sorry).

I do generally like this pub as a place to drink, it?s a nice spot and there?s a lovely garden out the back. I don't often write reviews but I?ve been thinking on it? how can we expect places to improve if we don?t give feedback? I asked the waiter to confirm a dish was gluten free they said ?yes definitely, it?s vegan? I let it slide and thought they had just got their words muddled but as I sat there waiting for the food I got worried that they really didn?t understand. I went in to double check and they said the same thing again, I asked a few more questions and it became clear they really didn?t know the difference between gluten and animal products. I understand that allergies can be complicated and I don?t expect everyone to understand but what concerned me was their confidence in confirming allergens when they didn?t understand. I would always be happy to wait if someone needed to check in with the kitchen, and in fact I think it shows a level of responsibility. I don?t want to shame the person serving but I really hope the restaurant can roll out a new rule where if a server doesn?t know the answer they are encouraged to go and check and to never say yes to something they are unsure of. I would have been ill after eating the meal I had ordered but others might have had a more severe reaction and this current approach could be dangerous. Saying all of that, another person at my table did receive a completely different meal to what they had ordered so there is the chance that the server was new or had an off day, who knows but I really hope they can roll out some stricter rules around allergens.

Cosy pub with large garden (big umbrellas to provide cover, and heaters). Very friendly and helpful staff, wide selection of drinks. We didn't eat but the food and snacks menu looked good.

Friendly community pub with good food and service. We had a Sunday lunch which was tasty and reasonably priced. There are all the options for chicken, pork belly and crackling, beef topside, or lamb, or a combination of three meats. The vegetable medley was really tasty and it comes with a massive Yorkshire pudding.
Food and drinks: Selection of menu options through the week with different themed days and evenings.

Let?s keep this between us, but this is a truly fab place to stay, whether for a night or a pint! Great location, lovely vibe and really friendly staff. Don?t tell your friends though, otherwise there may not be room enough for us. ?

Excellent room at a fair price. Comfortable bed, very good shower and all the small details well looked after. I would definitely return.
Decent pub too but, wow, London prices!

Was visiting Hove to watch England Women cricket and the Stirling arms is excellently located, being a few minutes walk from both Hove train station and the Cricket Ground. Also just a few minutes walk to the sea front and to lots of shops and restaurants.
Friendly welcome, very clean, nicely decorated room and en-suite bathroom, comfortable bed aided a good night's sleep. Well stocked tea/ coffee box and bottled water.
Will definitely be staying here again on future trips to Hove.

Just popped in for a cheeky pint or two.
Nice pub, friendly staff and tucked nicely away from the hustle and bustle.
Pints a bit pricey though.
Think about £6/7.
Walkability: Close to loads of amenities.
Right next to the beach.
Can pretty much walk anywhere of importance.
Food & drinks: Pints a bit pricey.
