Sadly can't recommend despitebeing a lovemy old pub with huge garden. Was told they did vegan options. £17 for a bowl of soggy pasta in tomato sauce and £18 for vegan burger and chips - brought out with no bun as it wasn't vegan (not explained upon ordering) and generally pretty dry and small. Guy serving was nice enough but we only realised they do a £16 drink and pasta/burger deal the night we were there after he took our drink order. So a meal that could have been £32 was £50!

We booked for a table of 4 for my wife's birthday. Ordered food and it was just over 1hr before we recieved it. No notification to say food was going to be late. Sadly it wasn't worth the wait. Very dry pie, poor burgers and 2 fishfinger and sausage. Yes that's all they gave our son. No chips or veg just 2 fingers and a sausage and then charged £10 for it! We ended up giving him our dinner.
Not one we will be going back to for food.

Ate here for the first time today with my parents,, their 2 dogs (one reactive so needed to be in a quiet spot) my partner, our mini pom and my very finicky daughter.
We didn't realise that on Sundays there's no child menu as such just smaller portions of roasts. The chef went out of his way to batter some chicken and make it into nuggets for her and chips, he even wrapped the chicken first in bacon as he heard she loved bacon!!! For my partner he had a ploughman's which he literally couldn't praise any more, he's quite fussy too so for him to fully enjoy a dinner is a big thing!! My parents had roast which they both thoroughly enjoyed and I had a gf roast which was the best roast I'd had in a long time! We had a good amount of veg between us none of this a sprout of broccoli each malarkey ?? proper portions!! And to top it all off the brownie was gf and to die for!! I had coffee ice cream on the side which went lovely!!
Will definitely go back and will be singing their praises to anyone that will listen!
I'd go as far as saying I'm sure the dog's would also praise if they could ?

Overpriced basic food. Please do not waste your money. Service average. Atmosphere quiet but was Friday lunchtime.

Lovely homely pub, great aesthetic and vibe. Nice warm roaring fire. The service was perfect and honestly the best veggie roast I've ever had.

Just had one of the best roast dinners and sticky toffee puddings of my life. We were driving through East Sussex and happened upon the pub as a welcome spot for some food, and were blown away. What we thought might be a quick sunday pitstop turned into a new place we?re earmarking to go out of our way to visit. Everyone was friendly and it was a brilliant price. Dog friendly and accommodated my partner?s coeliac allergy. Love it - well done all!

the worst fish and chips my son has ever had and the most horrible sandwich. Overpriced and paid just so we could leave. Avoid at all costs even if desperate and starving.

Seeing as my review of this pub seems to have disappeared, I'll place it again.
Staying in the area, this was the closest pub for us to go to, however sitting down you immediately got quite a horrible feeling, the table was sticky all over. It had obviously not been cleaned properly.
The meal itself ok, nothing special but the beer was EXPENSIVE.
We went back again another day for a second visit, expecting the tables to have been cleaned in the meantime, but no, still horrendously sticky.
I'm not surprised we were the only ones eating there.. we sure wouldn't give it another try.. we value our health too much.

What a fabulous treasure of a pub. The garden with a view to die for over the lovely Sussex countryside. It has a lovely terraced area where we ate outside on a generous table. My vegan food was excellent. Empty plates all round. We had friendly and attentive service by the staff and landlord. Prices were pretty average for Sussex. On the Saturday night we went it was fairly empty which was surprising considering the quality of the experience. We loved it. Highly recommended.
Vegetarian options: I follow a vegan diet. I really loved the polenta main dish (I'd love to know the recipe ,?). Just would like more options please?

Food was nice but a little pricey, didn?t mind though as £43 all in with 3 pints meal and dessert ain?t extortion and I will if ever that way again do it all over again ?

Never have I visited a pub with such an unfriendly landlordMy wife and I are 77 years of age and on sticks. Our car had broken down and we were attempting to contact RAC Rescue. We needed help but none was forthcoming from this unhelpful and not busy publicanWe settled with drinks in the pub garden but the wait for rescue which we finally achieved was to be longWe were stressed, exhausted and very hotA waiter came into the garden and we asked if, in our circumstances, another round of drinks could be brought to usAfter consulting the landlord the assistant returned to decline us. Those people around us were equally horrifiedWe had no drinks and left after I had had a strong altercation with the most unpleasant landlord, JamesNever again will I visit this local pub
