That place stunk. The rooms had a strong smell of damp with slight undertones of urine.Rooms: They smelt so bad that I bought a car air freshener from the petrol station next door. It did not help!

No one at the reception several times, ended up waiting over 30 minutes. The bathroom fan wouldn't turn off all night keeping me awake.

Please trust the 1* reviews! The only plus point of this room is that it's spacious (family room)But upon entering the room smelled of stale cigarette smoke and weed. The room had clearly not been cleaned ! It was disgusting. Old box of cornflakes and bottle of old milk left on the shelf. There is only 1 plug socket which is across the room so totally impractical! We actually had to clean the room ourselves and we aren't fussy people at all! Yes it's cheap but being your own bleach!Safety: Car park is filthy, unlit, over grown

Very nice staff on arrival, was aloud to check in early which to us was very convenient.

Unfortunately this Travelodge is in need of a major refit , The main reception area was dirty, mainly due to the fact that the car park was not tarmac in lots of places. The corridors all needed hoovering. Our bathroom was dirty on the floor , the bath and taps needed a good clean. The room overlooked the petrol station which is a 24 hour operation with lorries and vans stopping all night. So very noisy.

First impression, filty bin area. Poorly lit car park. Very tired hotel. In dire need of redecorating. Standard of cleaning in bathroom not great. Public areas needed hoovering! Only one socket in room. None next to bed. Had to endure somebody going in and out of room about 10 times!! Thin walls. Room overlooked Budgens and continous noise all night! Bed not very comfortable either.Should have read reviews first!

All OK except there is only one spare single mains socket so you need to take a 4 way lead if you want to charge up more than one phone, we got one from poundland for £3.00.I think Travelogue should invest a few quid and supply one of these for each room.

Generic Travelodge. Handy having a petrol station, Greggs and Starbucks next to it. Accepts dogs (at a price), so is convenient for us on the way to/from Newhaven ferry terminal.

The rooms are as good as they can be for a one star hotel though could really clean but better (as it?s one start I was expecting the worse). Slightly on the noisy side if you?re a light sleeper due to trucks and cars going to the petrol station opposite. Otherwise, well situated for where I was heading. The Budgens shop in the petrol station was good for some food and drinks. Otherwise it?s trying to order delivery, or if you have a car drive to restaurants nearby. For me who don?t have a car, would have been great if there was a communal lounge with a microwave or something, so people can buy a reasonably good range of meals food from the petrol station and eat in the hotel room/communal area.Shower was very hot and powerful.Though have to say the ceiling is quite thin, first night had a dog barking, the second night had a person walking back and forth around midnight above.

The worst hotel I have experienced in my life. The 1st room we were offered smelled so strongly of wet dogs it made my wife gag. We were offered a family room as an alternative. This room was not quite as bad but smelled of sick and baby milk. We had booked for two nights and naturally decided to leave. A refund was not possible but a voucher was offered for £30. Of course the eVoucher was not organised. No real loss as we would not use Travelodge again. The credit card company were more sympathetic. The company and manager should be ashamed.Rooms: Disgusted with the standard of the two rooms we viewed. The first room was the worst smelling room you could imagine. The stench of wet dog was unbearable. Yes it is dog a friendly hotel and yes it had been very wet for a Month but that is no excuse to show a guest such a vile room.

Quiet, comfortable and there was a lovely helpful girl at reception when we got there, and for myself it was a bonus that it had a bath there. Would definitely go again if I got the same location of room ?
