Superb food and service. My wife & I both had the pan fried hake in a shrimp, caper butter sauce with crush new potatoes and samphire. It was cooked perfectly and was extremely fresh. A proper skilled chef works here.

Picturesque old pub on edge of Ashdown Forest. Good selection of beers and above average menu. Cramped bar and tables for food. More space outside and covered deck with outside screen for sporting events. The place need some tlc as its getting a bit tatty

Stayed here twice - great stop off just a few miles off the M5 on way to Cornwall. Very helpful friendly staff , lovely clean rooms and good reasonably priced food . Highly recommended.

I had the Lamb Ragu and it was outstanding. The lamb was slow-cooked to perfection ? incredibly tender and full of rich flavour. The pappardelle was silky and perfectly coated in a beautifully seasoned sauce, with the oregano parmesan adding just the right touch of depth. A real comfort dish, but still refined and well-balanced.
Service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a hearty, flavourful meal done right.
Will definitely be back to try more from the menu!

Bland Loveless food, charge me $19.40 for a plain jane Loveless buffalo burger with no drink, I posted the details up here which embarrassed the Lib owner, she pretended it was a cheeseburger for 10.95 don't worry I'll repost the pictures. I noticed an influx of fake posts after this negative one . I guess that's what friends are for ,Despite your owner's response saying it was 10.95 I also have the debited $19.40, you charged me. And will repost. I even asked you for another option, asked if the burger was really worth it. which you insisted it was. It is not !!

Friendly enough staff however extremely expensive drinks (£23 for a pint and a 0% G&T), this put us off staying for food. *Update* following the request to get in touch with the pub, I did so. They have responded stating they hadn't appreciated that it was a double G&T and that as their standard measure is 35ml - the charge was correct.
This was not highlighted to me at the time therefore I still feel outraged at being charged this amount for 2 drinks.
