Found this place as we were around on a Sunday so went for the carvery.
The food was good, very tasty with a generous helping of meat. The only thing I need to mention was the state of the toilets. Someone needs to check them during service as the were gross. However the young guy waiting on our table was brilliant. He was rushed off his feet but still managed to spend time on everyone not rushing us at all.
I would recommend this Toby for a traditional roast dinner.

Never ever get a click & collect order from here I?ve ordered twice now both times I?ve had the end bits of meat ( pure fat) and about 1 piece of meat both times not to mention the potatoes were charcoaled and could take someone?s head off they were so burnt, not even edible. Disgusting wouldn?t even give it to my dog

Food was the usual good carvery. However cutlery - knives, forks, spoons needed a really good clean. All at the table were sticky. Some still had dried food stuck (looked like mash potato, dried gravy etc) on. I went to the cutlery caddy on the bar and had to sort through several items to find clean cutlery, so many very dirty! A definite Health & Safety Hygiene issue. Don't think we'll visit again - not worth picking up a tummy bug or worse through dirty cutlery on the table.

Came for a mod-week carvery. Left with jaw ache from the chewy inedible beef!
It was busy and the service from the clearly overstretched waiting staff was spot on. Sadly the food did not make up for this. We queued for around half an hour as the 'chef' was fetching items from the kitchen as well as serving. At one point we joked with other customers that he was out the back plucking the turkey that had run out. Once we finally got to the front of the queue the offerings were limited, most vegetables were empty with a few hard dried up ones left, the condiments were empty. But the real kicker was the beef - it looked lovely, but was so full of gristle (not fat) that we just couldn't eat it - I chewed on one mouthful for a good couple of minutes before I had to concede.
Check back was done and we did something we never do, and said it wasn't great - again the most incredible service and care from the waiter who took the time to listen to our concerns, offer us alternative meat (which we declined as we had eaten the few remaining veg that we had previously salvaged) and he returned to our table a few minutes later to say we would not be charged for the meat.
After we complained two other tables also spoke up and I could see they had also left their beef (good to know we weren't being overly sensitive or critical).
The two stars are for the service and our waiter, the missing three are for the 'food'.
P.S. If you do go you now need to register your car for parking - there are good large signs to inform you of this on entry, but just in case you miss them!

Not best pleased. Received alert about special offers for seniors. Booked table for 1.00 today but had to call to rearrange a different time as I had to take a call from Australia. Chap told me I had to be there for 4 as the deal was only available until 5.00. I then rang stating I was running late as bus was late. He knew I was in my way. He said fune that they reserve table for up to 20 mins after booking time. I got there explained I was senior. Chap saw my card as I placed it in the table. I had small plate from carvery, I had two potatoes, one had eyes in them. Food was warm. Needless to say I left half of it but thought I'm only paying senior price. Got to the till he charged me full price. I said I was paying for the senior meal to which he said. Its after 4 and the deal won't work after 4. To which I replied I wish the bloke told me as I wouldn't have bothered eating there. He said urs in the Terms and conditions . Well when you receive a deal for seniors which end on 27th March I just bought one day throughout the deal. I did book the senior deal so I should not have been charged full price

Dear Toby Carvery in Eastbourne
I am writing to formally express my extreme dissatisfaction with my recent experience at your restaurant. What started as an unfortunate encounter with a beetle in my food quickly escalated into a nightmarish situation due to the appalling lack of service and, quite frankly, the mistreatment my family and I endured.
Not only was the food unsanitary, with a beetle found in our meal, but when I brought this to the attention of your staff, the response was shockingly dismissive. To make matters worse, instead of handling the situation professionally, the staff proceeded to completely ignore us and even boycotted any further service. It was as if we were being punished for raising a valid concern about the cleanliness of your establishment.
We were left feeling humiliated and disrespected, with no apology, compensation, or even acknowledgment of the situation. This is completely unacceptable, and I am appalled by how my family and I were treated. As paying customers, we expect not only safe and clean food but also basic respect from the staff. Unfortunately, both were severely lacking.
I demand a full explanation of what happened and what steps will be taken to address this incident. It is my hope that you will take this complaint seriously, as no one should have to endure such an experience while dining out.
I look forward to your prompt response and resolution of this matter.

After a considerable absence. My wife and I decided to try breakfast at our local Toby. It turned out to be a better experience than expected. This carvery is not a new restaurant. So, it misses the glitz, and polish of somewhere newer. That said it was clean, tidy & welcoming in a homely way.
Direction is to order and pay at the bar then take your drinks, go find your own table.
Table chosen, clean and set, lots of Toby info on the table. Salt was missing but picked one off a local table.
Good choice on the all you can eat buffet. Both the bacon & sausages of a higher quality than you would expect. Both hash browns and a mixed potato hash on offer, as there was baked beans and mushrooms. Option to add Famous Toby?s Yorkshire puddings is a nice touch.
The toaster made a good representation of toast on only one run through.
Food was fresh and tasty. Unfortunately, we could only select cold plates, so it didn?t stay warm for long.
Biggest challenge was the quality of fried eggs. As with any buffet, they were fair condition at best.
2 x Breakfast, 1 x OJ, 1 x unlimited filter coffee or tea. Spend £20
In Summary
Quality 6/10
Selection 7/10
Cleanliness 8/10
Service 5/10
Value 10/10

Turned up, no one at the bar said sorry for the wait or be right with you when they saw us. Just awful service.
Food was okay. Plates were wet and still dirty. Cold food otherwise tasty.
Won't be returning.

Had a table booked for 6pm. Got seated fairly quickly, we come once a week but it wasn't exactly busy. It was busier when the half price meal offer was on. After 20 minutes someone finally came over and took our order. We went and got the food which was lovely the food is always great!
Once finished we sat and chatted for a while. I watched 2 tables around us get the plates cleaned and dessert ordered. The server made eye contact with me so I assumed she knew we was waiting.
Another 10 minutes passed and she had cleaned more tables and taken dessert orders from 4 more tables. I eventually went to the bar to order ice cream and was met with well it's been a busy night what do I expect.
The server came over a few minutes later and looked like I had shouted at her dog. Looking around the restaurant was half empty.
I understand service can be slow on a busy night. But intentionally avoiding a smaller table to please a big party isn't fair on the rest of the customers.
