Fantastic food, thoroughly enjoyed the onion rings and the pie. Reasonably priced, and in a great location

Considering we hadn?t pre-booked a table, the staff were amazing and let us order food later. It was definitely worth the wait - the food was absolutely gorgeous; lots of flavour mmm. We had the pie (proper pie not a stew with a lid) and full of meat with lovely veg. We also had the surf and turf with blue cheese sauce - it really was amazing with so many flavours. Would definitely recommend this place. Good food and value for money xxx

Our hungry and tired group of six including two grannies and two kids landed at Red Lion on Sunday evening, after doing the Seven Sisters. We had a tasty meal - literally polished off every morsel of food with some lovely ales (Badger Fursty Foot !). Excellent vegetarian options which is rare - there was an entire section of options which delighted my mother.

Just had a beer in the big garden so can't comment on the food.

A Fantastic Family Dinner at The Red Lion, Willingdon
We had an absolutely brilliant family meal at The Red Lion in Willingdon on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was outstanding from start to finish. Every member of staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home.
The highlight of the evening had to be the beef, stout, and mushroom suet pie ? hands down a 10 out of 10. Rich, hearty, and packed with flavour, it was comfort food at its finest. Every dish we ordered was beautifully presented and tasted even better.
This is the kind of place that gets everything right ? from food to service. If I could give it six stars, I would. Highly, highly recommended!

Avoid this place. Only rates highly because the locals made it that way. It is essentially a locals pub. That?s fair enough but advertise it as such. Poor service if you?re not known. Kitchen doesn?t have capacity so ofer early if you want to eat. Otherwise be prepared to wait. There?s a better pub down the road within walking distance. Left without spending a penny.

Good pub roast, but let down by service, was not busy and we waited nearly half an hour for puddings to arrive after waiting 20 minutes to order them. We would have had more drinks if waiting staff had bothered to ask us.

Well... What can I say apart from the highest accolades. My Great Aunt and I are without an oven until tomorrow and desperately wanted a Sunday roast dinner so I googled and up popped The Red Lion just down the street from us. Called up and spoke to Gav who said that our dinner would be ready when we needed it and to book a taxi to pick up and get it delivered. All sounded too easy to be frank. However, bang on time... The hugely massive delivery arrived of freshly cooked dinner that looked properly homemade! With the gravy in a separate pot as GG Aunt Iris doesn't like gravy for some bizarre reason. There was so much food that we have enough for two meals tomorrow too! It was absolutely delicious.... And will be tomorrow too! A fine discovery today. Didn't eat in so can't comment on atmosphere but the chit chat in the background of my phone call was enough to indicate it's a grand atmosphere!
