Thanks for ruining my town with economical migrants smoking weed, stealing bikes and grooming the kids ?

Doesn?t even deserve 1 star. The worst experience and staff. I booked a room for 22nd October 2022 but when I arrived, there was a man sitting at a desk by the entrance refusing our stay despite people coming in and out of the hotel. They handed us a number to call (The hotel number) and all they did was cut the phone on me. I then had to find a last minute room at one of the other hotels along the seafront. They told us that the Strand is being used to house refugees but are still taking bookings and have been refusing people who turn up for their booking and refusing refunds. I still haven?t been able to get through to the hotel properly. The staff at the door were rude and the man I spoke to on the phone was even ruder and dropped the call once I mentioned that I wanted a refund.

We booked and paid in advance for this hotel back in July 2021. We also had tickets to see the fabulous Bat Out of Hell the musical. We had numerous emails from booking. Com in the days leading up to our weekend away saying they hoped we enjoyed our stay at OYO The Strand Hotel.I even recieved one and on the day itself whilst on the train. Imagine our shock then when after a lengthy and expensive train journey and arriving at The Strand Hotel to.be greeted by a security guard who looked at our paperwork confirming our booking and pre payment and informed us that The Strand Hotel was no longer a hotel in fact it hasn't been since October 2021 but Is now used for another purpose. The man in charge who was very nice told us to contact booking.com for a refund. All very well but now we are without overnight accommodation and nearly £100 worth of tickets for a show we very much wanted to see. After some considerable time we did manage to get another room but it was very distressing and upsetting and we had to shell out £65 that we could ill afford for another room. After an amazing show we contacted booking. Co via 3 different emails including their official despute page and so far we have heard nothing. This morning to add insult to injury I received an email from booking.com asking us to review our stay at The Strand Hotel. Cleary a serious communication problem between The Strand and Booking. Com and we would like our initial £47 back plus some form of compensation. However nothing has come of our complaints and now we are just met with a wall of silence from Booking.com. Imagine if someone turned up from abroad with a long standing booking. Any advice on how to proceed forward with our complaint would be welcome and gladly received Thank you

Staff were friendly, rooms were clean and the hotel is in a very nice location with the Beach just opposite. However the hotel could do with an overall referb, new carpet, curtains etc. Lift wasn't working, restaurant closed and strong smell of cannabis on the way up to our room!

To be fair I haven't actually stayed in this hotel.I enquired about room for a single traveller arriving in Eastbourne in December.I was told the hotel is closed until end of January as its housing Migrants. Looking at previous reviews they mentioned drunk homeless people who had been put there by council. If this is the case I doubt anyone would want to stay there. Personal choice though. Why is it the hotel management/customer services etc respond to reviews regarding lack of facilities etc but, don't respond to reviews about migrants or drunken guests that the council housed there.?

Not impressed at all. We were told we were being moved "due to unforeseen circumstances" along with a lot of other people. No explanation was given but it looked like the rooms were being given to the homeless ( funded by council ). Besides this our room was tiny with a view of broken pipes and ladders behind the building. Room was basic and clean but very dated. A poorly fit sliding door separated the toilet/shower from the sleeping area. Very cramped. Lift was out of order so a bit of a trek up the narrow stairs if disabled/elderly. We did get moved to the Glastonbury Hotel which was a huge bonus ! In comparison to the Strand Hotel the, the Glastonbury was gorgeous !

Bed was comfy. Hotel smelled of cigarettes and cannabis. Rooms were dated and are in need of a spruce up.Other guests were very noisy (most appear to be locals housed here by the council, rather than holidaymakers), with shouting/doors slamming in to the early hours.Staff were helpful.Restaurant was closed 'due to covid' and were the lifts (which makes little sense to me, and makes me think that they are in fact just not safe to use)

Horrible from start to finish. Stank of urine in reception. Putrid fish tank in reception added to aroma. Drink and disorderly men lurking around the hotel corridors banging on doors and rattling door handles during the night . Staff disinterested and inexperienced. Zero facilities . Room carpet was so dirty didn?t want to take shoes off. Bathroom was in a cupboard which also smelt. Toilet dirty. Very tired and badly maintained. AVOID

we stayed in room 119, which was well presented, lovely sea view, double bed that is comfy. nice bathroom. The hotel has friendly, professional staff and management and a bar. We would definitely stay again and have stayed in and so can reccomend rooms 119, 126 and 127 which all have sea views

An old seafront hotel which despite a coat of paint and attempts to move the hotel into the twenty first century this is not a hotel that I can recommend at this time. Location right on the seafront proves for easy access to the beach and promenade yet the railway station is a thirty-minute walk away (five pounds by taxi) and the centre of the town is also a twenty-minute walk away. The front steps to the hotel were steep and I could not see any other slope access, The welcome was friendly yet check in was a long-drawn-out process with numerous hurdles to jump even though I had pre-paid for the stay; they demanded photo identification and a preauthorization of my credit card. Now for the broken promises, the lift was not in operation, the signed luggage assistance was unavailable, the bar and restaurant were closed with no food and drink offering in the hotel The hotel is not open to nonresidents therefore I could not meet my friends at the hotel as planned. The corridors to the room had worn and stained carpets, the walls were covered with damage. The room was therefore a bit of a surprise; yes, it contained dated furniture and a colored bathroom suite however the bed was comfortable and clean also the room was functionable. The Wi-Fi was excellent, but the TV a letdown. The hot beverages making facilities were poor. The noise of the pigeons on the adjacent flat roof outside the room was not appreciated from dawn onwards. Despite all the id checks etc. at check in the overall hotel security is a joke, anyone can walk into the hotel go straight to the room without passing the reception, for example. No breakfast was offered, and it would seem none was available. If you want nothing more than a bed at night then this hotel is OK yet if you require more, for example a bar or breakfast then stay elsewhere.

I had a sea view room and the view was absolutely amazing. There was scaffolding up though so this spoilt it a little bit and the outside windows were dirty. The bed was comfortable so that was good. There is a sign in the bathroom saying you need to request a hairdryer at reception. I was given one that didn't work so then had to go down and get another one. The receptionist didn't have a hairdryer that worked. Said she would look for one and I should wait in the room but she never showed up. Should have just come up and say she didn't have one. The bed was comfortable but the first night I could hear the music coming from reception in the morning as it was so loud so couldn't get back to sleep. Didn't hear it the second morning so slept better. The location is amazing!

I did enjoy my stay here, it just lacked a few stuff ie free toiletries, breakfasts and no lift. The bed was like a waltzer fairground attraction. It wasn't all bad, the shower was fantastic and hot. Lack of side lamp or moodlighting. I would come back and stay. Although they don't offer parking, but if you can get a parking bay, it will only cost you £8.00 per day.
