Overall the hotel was pleasant. Only ever seemed to be the same person working. Had to ask twice to get bedding changed as it was marked. The bed itself was soft and comfortable. Although the room didn't have a sea view, the view was still very nice. I think there might have been an issue with the electrics as the light in the bathroom was temperamental.

A terrible experience. *The room booked and paid for in advance not available the first night. *Bedbug bites found on skin the next morning under chin, on neck and arms. I took photos of these. *No hot water in the shower just a trickle of cold water. *I changed room. The new room had a floor to ceiling balcony window. The sash cord was broken. The window catch was busted. It did not lock. The window frame was rotten. The window was propped open with 2 bricks. (photo taken). The balcony was shared with the room next door. No security. Someone could have entered the room in the night or day. I was shocked. * the basin faucet wobbled like a joy stick. The following morning there were more bedbugs now on my torso and legs. So I stripped the bed linen. There was no under blanket on the bed nor a matress protector cover. The sheet was directly on the matress. * The receptionist/ manager tightened the faucet. He reimbursed me for the LYCLEAR bedbug cream which the pharmacist recommended. * the hotel promised a full refund. The internet site which I booked and paid through has agreed to the refund. I am waiting for this.

Beautiful hotel in front of the beach. 10 out of 10 marks for the cleaning and staff cooperation. They have made me their lifetime customer with their excellent service.

Stunk of weed when entering the building! Shower and sink backfilled with water and curly hairs while trying to wash ! Shame as great location. Also sash windows had failed ?

Myself and my husband arrived at the property at 1.30 (check in at 3.30) I asked the Manager if we could have a parking permit so we could go for something to eat while waiting for our room to be ready, which he filled in and gave to me, while we were out enjoying ourselves we received a Parking Fine. This is the second time when staying at this Hotel it has happened!! When we said to the Manager who showed no interest he just said take it up with the Council. Myself and hubby were not very pleased with this or his attitude!! Because we were angry and annoyed the Manger refused our booking and cancelled it. When i told him we had both had a couple of drinks so was unable to drive home he was not interested. He promised us a Full Refund but we only received £5.00!! That night myself and my husband had to sleep in our car as we could not get accommodation at short notice.

I booked this hotel through 'Destinia', and have submitted a review similar to this on their website. Strangely, they have not published it yet. It is nothing more than an honest account of our experience, and is not disrespectful. My booking was last minute, and for two nights, so I was limited for choice. The Oban Hotel looked basic, but nice, and was in the ideal location i.e on Eastbourne seafront. It was advertised with free parking, which again was ideal. Having booked a room, on a zero return cancellation agreement, I was then advised that there was no parking due to Airbourne. At the time of booking, I requested extra pillows for medical reasons. On checking in my identity was not questioned or even verified. I was given a key and told where to place it when I checked out. Poor greeting. This was also the only time that we ever saw Reception staffed. I queried the extra pillows to be told that because I had booked through a third party, my request had not been received so they could not accommodate it. Our room was in the basement and overlooked a small courtyard and grassed area, which had numerous bottles thrown onto it during the course of our stay, apparently by guests from their bedroom windows. The room was cramped, but clean. Bedding and towels were clean and fresh. There was no complimentary hairdryer. The hotel itself had a damp, fusty smell, a bit like your old grannie's front room. Wi-fi was advertised but not working. The lift was out of order. There was no bar or restaurant as signs stated these were undergoing refurbishment. We spent both nights / early hours of the morning disturbed by the occupants of the room above having lengthy drunken arguments, shouting loudly at each other and using foul and abusive language. This must have been heard by other guests too. The room concerned was also close to Reception but clearly the matter went unchecked. There was never a member of staff available to raise concerns with or to complain to. Overall, a very strange and disappointing experience for the money. Won't be going back.

Just spent 2 nights at the Oyo Oban, no lift, bar not open, no WiFi, rooms dated and basic, but on the plus side, very clean and lovely location overlooking the sea, unfortunately not our room though. We were at the top floor, luckily I have no trouble climbing 3 flights of stairs, what would have happened if I'd been unable to ?Rooms: Very basic indeed, Windows needed replacing in our room, could barely see out, but a very clean room

Cheap rooms but check in as 3pm, you can't come in and take a seat, they make you wait outside until 3pm. They won't store your luggage till 3pm either. No lift so a lot of steps. Paid £54 to book in advance but checking the price on the day its actually £46 which is cheaper ?. Plenty of room for improvement but if you just want a cheap bando then this is the spot.
