After paying for our meal we waited an hr for the food to arrive?! No apologies...just excuses...being told our order was nxt three times over.... we watched every one else be served but us. Eventually we asked for a refund instead, at this point we were assured our meals being plated as we spk and that they only had one chef today.
The staff asked how they could make it up to us if we stayed...we said another drink each, an extra portion of chips maybe and possibly a desert....this was readily agreed....we had one extra pint which we shared between the two of us, one extra portion of chips , and one desert which we shared( this also took a long time coming and were then asked if we wanted anything else! Upon leaving we were called back asking us to pay the bill. We said we had. But the man shouting this out to us had not cleared this with the original lady serving us..We asked him to spk with her. He came back with her and they denied we had waited an hr for our food! We said the time was clearly on the receipt . He then said they were only offering us one drink each or one drink and one desert to share. This man was rude in his manner and patronising us as we explained the confusion. There was no apology and he certainly read us wrong...the customer service was terrible and the only memorable food was the single portion of a brownie with ice cream which we shared. Never going there again! Overpriced, poor service and poor quality of food.

This is my family?s local despite not living in the village, it?s a really lovely pub. Very pretty garden out the back, great food & lovely staff & owner. Never been disappointed, would really recommend it :)

We popped in for lunch with my granddaughter who is two.
My wife and I had burgers which were great, My granddaughter had fish fingers and chips. There was a miscommunication and a large cod and chips was prepared for her by mistake, they apologised immediately and said that they'd do the fish fingers instead.
I said not to worry as it would have been a waste of a good meal.
The outside decking is lovely in the sun but inside is cold and damp, the damp being caused by a bottled gas heater that runs continually.

Always a nice quiet pint

First time here and just popped in for a pint late Friday afternoon.
Lovely warm fire in the grate, proper pub atmosphere and good beer. Groups of women at the back of the pub so clearly appears female friendly. Eventually served by an older chap with a Pint and a half of excellent tasty Harvey's Old Ale, the cost £8.80 ?
Service was somewhat slow and the chap behind the bar seemed busy multitasking serving food, clearing plates and collecting glasses. We could also see a large quantity of unwashed collected glasses on the back bar and a full glass washer, perhaps a sign of the pubs popularity?
Food seemed at the mid high end cost wise but as we didn't eat I cannot comment on quality or quantity.
Would I go back, yes as the beer was great and a few pints in front of the fire is tempting.

Another gentrified village local. No bar games, darts or pool. Reasonable pint of Harvey's. Nice enough inside and the garden will be a nice place to sit out in summer and watch sun set over downs.

V good burgers and chip. Also, bacon baguette really nice as well.
