Lovely hotel great staff Very welcoming would recommend perfectly situated though as with most Brighton hotels parking was a problem had to park in the train station and get a taxi to the hotel which was a pain

I was very disappointed as good as the staff dealt with the situation my first room priced at £130 was a absolute mess the windows was screwed shut with rusty screws looked a mess the carpet was stained and the hose off the radiator was leaking causing a massive stain and his was response is ? we?re undergoing maintenance for a little while ? that?s no reason for a leaky radiator and the smell was horrific! Then he moved us too the second room witch was much better although Still had the stain on radiator at 10 o?clock at night all I needed was sleep but overall very very disappointed with my stay and I for sure will never ever use this hotel again and I do not recommend it to anybody else!!!

Bit of a mixed bag. Inexpensive for a reason. Great location but the front seems to be under semi-permanent construction. You could see into the basement from the outside through cracks in the foundation. That was a bit troubling. Also, the lift wasn't working.Room small but not awful. Some maintenance issues. Appears that it had a renovation, say, 20 years ago and now they're trying to keep it going without much money or knowledge. Shower didn't drain, toilet roll holder broken, burn marks on the carpet, some carpet stains. Really, the whole place could use a significant renovation at this point.Breakfast was good. Nice strong coffee, freshish OJ, and my main was scrambled eggs with smoked salmon (in addition to a small buffet with cereal and toast) and it was perfect, along with a great view of the sea while eating. All that said, for £31 including breakfast I'd probably stay again.

I booked through Booking.com for one night, hoping to have a clean base to stay for an overnight trip with my girlfriend. I spoke to the hotel upon booking (around 3 weeks before my stay) and discussed parking spaces etc, everything seemed normal. I arrived at the property and walked into the grubby looking building, to be greeted by a security guard asking what I was doing. I explained I was here to check in. He told me that this was no longer a hotel, he described it as a rehabilitation hostel of some sort. He told me that my new hotel was a few streets down, the 'King's Hotel'. Due to the parking situation on Brighton seafront, I asked if I could leave my car whilst I went to double check my reservation at the other hotel. He agreed. I left whilst my girlfriend waited in the car. Upon returning to the car park, there were several intimidating people lingering in the car park which was very unsettling. I left the car park and parked in the a multi-storey car park and proceeded with the reservation at the other hotel. The 'King's Hotel' was dated, rude staff and felt unclean. I will proceed with this review on their page. Do NOT book this hotel. I was not warned or informed about this situation. Avoid booking to avoid spoiling your trip! I will be chasing this up with Booking.com!

One star only for the view which was obstructed by scaffolding which has been in place for months (from pictures and reviews -still no renovation has been done).Windows were so dirty that they looked like noone has ever cleaned them.We paid extra £25 for bringing our small dog with us.I can only comment on the room which was given to us:Room very dated and in need of complete renovation. This room should not be used for guests !Staff not very friendly. The receptionist did not know what she was doing. She told us the wrong time for checking out and did not warn about scaffolding.Do not stay here! Pay an extra £5 or stay few meters further away from the beach but do not stay here!I will not be staying again and I would not recommend.

We were very skeptical staying here after reading the reviews but we were pleasantly surprised with our stay at the Brighton hotel! We stayed for 3 nights, the room (311) we stayed in was clean and must have been recently renovated as room was modern and bathroom was lovely with a bath. There is scaffolding up currently but this doesn?t block the sea view up massively. We found breakfast okay with a good options to chose from however we found we waited a while for order to be taken. We would stay here again.

Return stay and pretty much as before. Our rooms, the breakfast and service were all basic but ok. You get the impression they are watching the pennies carefully with everything and it's all acceptable but fraying at the edges. A reasonably priced place to stop for the night rather than the place for a romantic break.

As you arrive you you immediately aware thats its a grubby looking hotel & doesn't get any better as you walk in. The room we had was small with rotton carpets and tiny bathroom They also advertise car parking if you lucky enough to be one of the first eight guest to arrive. My best advice is pay a few quid more and stay somewhere else .

On arrival, I asked about parking my car at the front and was told that yes they had room but then my car had to be inspected by 2 staff to see if it was small enough to fit. It wasn't! One of the reasons I booked this woeful hotel was because it had its own parking but nowhere on their website does it state your car must not be over a certain size. If you have anything bigger than a small hatchback, forget it, you won't be allowed to park there, even if they do have spaces. We then went up to our room on the third floor which, upon opening the door, was of a good size but there the good impression ended. The windows all had a howling gale coming in all round, making the room freezing cold. The floors aren't level and had that been the only issue, I'd have just put it down to quirkiness and charm of an old building. Looking around the room further though, the chair by the vanity table was badly stained, as was the carpet in places, the window frames and sill filthy on the inside, the coffe machine didn't work and the curtains/blind were all filthy and smelt. The bed was of a good size and reasonably comfortable, but the duvet nowhere near heavy enough for such a cold room. In the bathroom, there is a lack of towel rails, given the number of towels, it is unheated, so freezing cold and the soap dispenser was in a stupid position at head height, making it awkward to have one hand underneath whilst pumping the plunger on top. The flooring was coming away from the walls and looking shabby and the shower itself is totally inadequate with barely enough pressure for the water to dribble out. We decided not to risk breakfast thinking that if the quality of that was anything like the rest of the hotel, we'd probably end up in A & E with food poisoning! When checking out, I was waiting to see if the member of staff would ask if we enjoyed our stay. He eventually did mutter something and we told him precisely what we thought of this abysmal hotel. His answer to the complaint of a cold, unheated bathroom was to suggest that if we'd asked, they would have put an electric heater in there for us! An electric heater in a bathroom????? I don't think so! This is an apalling hotel, however you look at it. Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!

We stayed at The Brighton Hotel last night and I can honestly say it was the worst experience. It started by being greeted at reception with mass altercation between staff and 3 guests of the hotel. Although our receptionist was lovely and did apologise to us, the way they were dealing with the disgruntled customer was bad. At one point I think I heard the manager raise her voice! We got into our matchbox room and the whole bedroom was on a tilt to start with. The room was extremely tired with a funny smell, paint had chipped around the window and the loudest shower in the world. We went out for the day and upon our return our room key didnt work. Then, we had possibly the worst nights sleep ever. The wind was awful and albeit not the hotels fault but the window was rattling all night. My boyfriend was running the half marathon in the morning so wasnt ideal being awake ALL night. When we got up in the morning my right eye was swallon, the same as an allergic reaction. I can only put this down to extreme dust in the pillows or bed. The breakfast was ok but a pretty limited choice. When we checked out we fed all of the above back and got what felt meaningless "sorry'. Very disappointing all round.

Stayed for one night. Completely overpriced at £150. While I appreciate that this is clearly an old building under some sort of renovation there is absolutely no excuse for charging that sort of price. Tatty and old. Stained carpets in room and stains on side of fake leather worn chairs and table in bedroom. Dirty coffee machine. One summer duvet on a very large bed in winter out of season. Freezing cold room with unsealed drafty windows. Shower very poor. Parts of flooring coming off walls. No glasses in room. Breakfast very limited and basic at best. No linen on tables in breakfast area revealing tatty and worn cheap tables. No fresh tea of coffee made. And to top it off there is an £18 charge to park your car in one of what is clearly their own parking spaces which are just about big enough for a bicycle never mind a car. Reception staff on check out were aloof and did nothing to make amends for reports of inadequate services. Never actually asked how our stay was prior to me telling them and barely looked up from computer. They need to completely shut down to renovate or be very transparent with those wishing to book and reduce price by at least two thirds.

Tatty, worn out, expensive for what you get for your money, room was freezing cold, shower was useless, summer quilt on the bed in winter, windows letting in fresh air cause they're poorly fitted, screws in corners of windows hold some of them shut, 18 pounds for a inadequate car park if you've got anything bigger than a smart car , wouldn't recommend staying here at all, on checkout the child behind the desk disnt give a monkeys, I guess once they've got your money they dont care

A comfortable hotel, with work going on to the front of the building, and really ready for new carpets in most of the bedrooms. Although I?d stay here again, many people would think that there was a cleaning issue. This is NOT the case. The beds are kept spotlessly clean. The brown is just where the carpet has gone threadbare with its age!! But come here for a comfortable and happy stay in the city of Brighton and you?ll find the people friendly, the rooms clean and tidy and the en-suite in pretty good order, if ageing and not put right!!
