This used to be an excellent shopping experience and whilst the staff that are scheduled on are lovely and apologetic the decision to have NO checkouts open after 8pm makes doing a family shop intolerable? also the money saving exercise of switching off the lights in the car park at night makes it feel very unsafe?

I'm still waiting for a response from 10 weeks ago when I had a bad experience in this store. I shopped early at 8.30am. The deli wasn't open at this time and I asked if someone could get me some cold meats. I was told it didn't open until 9. The girl was there but refused to serve me. I said but if the shop opens at 8am then why not the deli? She shrugged but walked away. So I asked a manager to help me. She said it's policy! My answer to that was 'so I can buy a bottle of alcohol at 8am but not a few slices of ham' ! ridiculous, especially as the girl was standing there! They both refused to open up the deli.. The only reason you got 2 stars is because the girl in the checkout was lovely.. I will never return to this store again as most unaccomodating ..if a store is open then so should all departments be within the store..

I've been waiting for my online delivery due between 10-11am. It's now 12.28 and nothing! I've rung the online helpline and hung on for 3/4 an hour - not answered. Not good.

I really am not a fan of this supermarket. It is rather awkward to get to and the car park is dreadfully laid out. The shop itself is quite small and rarely well stocked. Due to its proximity to universities it is always far too busy for my liking which makes it difficult to navigate.

It gets the job done. This was the "closest" market to University of Sussex and I went here twice during my summer abroad. Grocery shopping without a car was a hassle because you can only buy what you can carry back...and milk/yogurt/frozen dinner can be pretty heavy! The value at this market place is fairly cheap but I kept having to convert pounds to dollars to really know how much I was spending on things. After awhile, I just stopped calculating and just grab whatever looks good. Milk cartons here are in such unique shapes in comparison to US milk cartons, I like the small size milk cartons since I don't drink much milk and they expire pretty fast. Good selection of fruits and veggies!

One of the best sized supermarkets in central Brighton, and subsequently often busy - get there in the weekday mornings/early afternoons for less shopping stresses! As they go, this supermarket is pretty good with a wide range of fresh meat, fish, fruit n veg and baked goods. The best place to go if you're cooking for guests and need to be sure you'll find everything you need at short notice. There's also a car park, which is fairly unique in central Brighton.

This is a great supermarket, with an excellent fruit and vegetable section, cheese section, and a great bread section, full of lovely fresh loafs, bagels, buns and cakes. The rest of the store is as you'd expect, being full of everything you could possibly want, all of a good quality and price.

From the outside, this Sainsburys looks like a 60s eye-sore. It's all ugly grey concrete and bad architecture. The inside is just as formulaic and uninspiring but luckily, it harbours a cracking bakery, extensive deli counter, a friendly fishmonger and a pharmacist. The size of the store means it also stocks a wide range of both their competitors and their own brand products. It's here my better half stocks up on incredible olive oil, balsamic vinegar, pesto, sugacaso tomato sauce and oat cakes. The fruit and veg are more expensive than other supermarkets but they usually taste fresh and flavoursome. If they don't, Sainsburys have an excellent customer service and usually refund you whatever you take back. Tea-times and Sundays tend to attract students and families - so go a different time if you want to avoid queueing. Oh and they sell their own brand of pretty good Cava for £4.99 a bottle!

A very clean looking store which is organised. The staff are always friendly ans willing to help you. The selection of foods avaliable is very large and produce is always fresh. The bakery is simply divine aswel stocking bread and a assortment of cakes. The are selling cards, stationary and lottery tickets is also well organised and fully staffed. This supermarket overall is fresh, tidy and staff helpful. Perfect to do your weekly shopping stress free!
