You want a review? OK then..... I knew it was being refurbished so checked online to see if they were getting rid of the tills. The website said 2 tills were still open, the rest are self service.
LIE NUMBER ONE!!!
I got there and there was only 1 till open and a queue about twenty people long. On top of that there were three staff standing around doing absolutely sod all except handing out carrier bags at the self service. I asked if the other till would be opened and was told no.
Then, to put the icing on the cake, after queuing for about half an hour to buy my food, I noticed the chap on the till was asking to look into everyon's bags.
So lets get this straight, you queue up for bloody ages because the store can't be bothered to open the second till, even though it clearly says there's two tills open on the website, and then when you go to pay you get suspected of theft!
Are you lot having a laugh??
If anyone suspects me of theft and asks to look in MY bag without the slightest bit of proof that I've actually stolen something, I'll make sure I get all the details of my accuser and I'll sue not only them personally, but also Aldi themselves for defamation of character.
The bloody nerve.
And the best bit......at the self service, they've got a big sign up saying 'abuse towards staff will not be tolerated'.
Yet there they are suspecting everyone who dares to enter the store with a bag, of being a thief!!!!!

Generally a good store but the queues can be very long at some times of day, although if I go in after 9pm it?s very quiet. Currently being refurbished and scheduled to reopen on August 28th. Literally a shell at the time of posting this review.
UPDATE: engineering work finished on time (unlike on the railway!) and all-new fridges down most aisles, a new expanded self-checkout area has up to 19 tills with a parallel queue area, meaning access to the important wine and beers area isn?t space restricted by the queues. A good refurbishment that hasn?t moved stuff around unnecessarily, leading to wasted time trying to find what you went in there for.

I thought most shops closed at 4pm but when I saw that aldi was open I decided to pop in so I drove over to aldi about 15 minutes and when I got to the doors it was closed. Their times were shown on the side saying 11am-4pm but google said 5pm so now ive wasted my time going somewhere where I thought I could go and grab a few things to keep me going for a few days. Please change your hours!!

I was harassed at Aldi London Road Brighton by a tall white man member of staff no glasses. I asked him for a bag at the till and he said excuse me as a response and so I said again please can I have a bag and then he rudely replied bag yes I know that's what I was saying excuse me to for you to move out of my way, which I then replied bit rude and then he threw a tantrum like a child unscanned my bag and left, and then upon leaving I accidentally pushed him as he was blocking my exit and then he came up to me chasing me grabbed my headphones and chucked them on the floor and started screaming swearing at me trying to get security to kick me out and they didn?t because he was in the wrong.

Great place, cheap prices

The best part about this shop is there's almost always some argument going on between a crack head and the security. Otherwise it's a pretty decent place to buy certain things especially if you're looking to save money. Not everything is the cheapest you can find locally though, for example the nearby butchers and the greengrocers in the open market are often better value and have a wider range. The bread is surprisingly decent.
