Popped in for lunch expecting something nice, I had a chicken burger which was practically inedible, it was really hard, dry and chewy, couldn't manage much of it, the fries with it were inedible, tasted like baked cardboard, none of us could eat those. My son's wings were quite nice and the salad was pretty fresh, but the burger my wife had although cooked ok had the taste and texture of cheap mechanically reclaimed beef, that kind of slimy texture telltale of such meat. They didn't charge us for the chicken burger and one of the fries, but still spending over 40 what we managed to eat didn't seem like a good deal at all..

I stand by my review, I don't doubt that when they were originally taste tested and put on the menu the fries were good, however that doesn't change what was placed on our table on the day, all four of us found the fries inedible so this wasn't one persons opinion, that combined with the hardness of the chicken (which we demonstrated to the staff by trying to push a knife through it) meant they tasted as if they had either been recooked from the day before, or really just overcooked, I had to get something else to eat elsewhere afterwards.
We eat beef burgers all over the UK and Europe and the texture of the beef was really not good, so I don't know if you had a bad batch but I can only comment on what was put on the plate, the wings and salad were however nice

Went in here for early dinner Saturday and was very impressed by the service as it was friendly. The burger was amazing very delicious and the chunky chips well done.

Came for lunch and was pleasantly supposed by the freshness of what we had. Lovely chicken wings, gorgeous burgers and excellent chips. Highly recommend if in Battle. Also a nice selection of drink and great decor.

2nd stay here in recent months. Spotless room, huge comfy bed no noise issues on a Saturday night with the live music. Endless supply of tea, coffee and toiletries available in the hallway which is a nice touch. Fantastic breakfast .Staff are brilliant. Location absolutely perfect smack in the middle of beautiful Battle. What a gem.

Parking is a few minutes away in a RingGo.
Went for lunch as a group and food was good. Had a ploughmans to share, which was nice, but effectively fruit and cheese. Pickled onions were soft, and there was no ham, a bit disappointing. Other food ordered looked good and feedback positive.
Service was excellent and maybtry again as the menu was very good. Worth trying, maybe avoid the ploughmans.

Dirty loaded fries
Beef chilli
Bangers and mash - this was particularly good
Drinks - the Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter is a good choice
Couldn't comment on rooms
So eager to eat I didn't get pictures, but food all well presented and good portions. Very good value for money

Popped in for a burger, glass of champers and oh my God!!!! Absolutely amazing. Fabulous interior, good music, delightful staff and the best true burger I have eaten in years!!!!! If you get to Battle, do not miss this great place!!
