Brilliant pub
The food is actually restaurant quality
My wife had the mackrel which was wonderful, and I had the bean burger which was the best bean burger I've ever had.
The kids menu is good.
There are loads of gluten-free options.
Everything is reasonably priced.
The beers are great including 5 gluten free beers on tap.
They have a solid wine list which includes some pale dry rose which you don't get many places.
Also their beer garden is amazing. Really nice layout with a great view and it gets the sun all day.
I highly highly recommend this place!

The quality of food 2 years ago was amazing that is why we booked a special dinner at this pub. Unfortunately, the food quality was poor, dry and tasteless. We had 5 + flies buzzing around our table. Save your money not worth your time nor
money.

Grew up down the road. Was totally in love with the pub and the walks. There's a new team in town, and unfortunately menu has suffered. Its £19 for an ox burger that was half the size it's always been. It was their prize piece! Burgers half the size, chips are now tiny, where are the onion rings?? The staff have always been super friendly and we'll come in for the occasional pint but I think we'll now be going elsewhere for food. Cheers guys, but you've dropped down from my number one.

We have visited the Sussex Ox a few times recently.
Initially, our first steak sharer deal on a past Friday was excellent.
We have frequented since, early evenings, but due to not booking there were no steaks at all..... disappointing.
The night in question requesting the review was again unfortunately disappointing . The advertising stated the evening began from 17:30. We booked a table at 18:00. The band started at 19:30, which we had difficulty hearing being seated the wrong side of the glass outside.
We watched whilst I ate my cold steak in a ciabatta bun. Lovely lady serving but she never once checked in on our food.
Almost £95 for 2 adults to attend a barbeque was slightly on the heavy side too.

We came for a Sunday lunch but it was a hot day. The main meals were really good but wasn?t really the choice of a lighter lunch - only a few snacks on the menu. This was probably because it was a Sunday menu? Some of our party had roast which was good. The burgers were delicious. The mackerel was ok but expensive for the portion. It came with a bowl of plain lettuce and chips. The desserts were really good. Overall it was a lovely meal, fantastic service and a lovely garden.

A group of us visited on a Saturday for lunch. The menu had a range of dishes, not just pub classics. The food was delicious and there was a good range of local keg and cask beers, including low alcoholic options. Service was excellent and staff were patient. The pub was set in a lovely location. We're planning another visit soon!

Lovely Sunday roast here although the service charge at 12.5 per cent is a little steep. I find it off putting that dogs are allowed into dining areas. Apart from the hygiene aspect, restaurants and bars do not consider the allergy effect on asthma suffers such as myself. So our afternoon was cut short by the 6 dogs in the dining room at various stages throughout our meal in this pub!

Super lovely location, great views, food was fantastic ....probably the best fillet steak ever.......service from the lovely young team was excellent.....will definitely return when in the area...
