We ate here earlier this evening. One of the best pubs we have ever been in and in a very pleasant village.Great welcome and service and the pub food was excellent. We had the cheese and leek pies but there's a good mostly meat based range of pies that we believe they make there.

Really enjoyed lunch here with friends, particularly the choice of home-made pies. Good beer and beautifully refurbished.

They may have been unexperienced, it may have been a bit late for lunch. But still. Try another place next

We frequent lots of Sussex's lovely pubs but this was our first time at the Six Bells and we'll definitely be back. A great place to bring a dog, lovely staff and atmosphere and delicious food. All set in beautiful Alfriston!

Excellent Sunday Lunch, very generous portion of beef but balanced by a good selection of interesting well cooked veg. Very friendly hosts and good value for money. When we called there were a few customers with dogs some of which were not on a lead which is not to everyone's taste, especially when eating. Overall, strongly recommended and would visit again.

Went in here on Sunday, Only had a drink (or two), what a great quirky little pub, very friendly staff and good beer with a open fire, just absolutely lovely, would throughly recommend a visit.Only small down side, as we walked in got greeted by the landlords dog barking, but saying that he was very friendly, but still can be a bit off-putting if like me you're a bit apprehensive of dogs.

We had a fantastic roast dinner on Sunday, both had the roast beef and it was delicious ? and plentiful, beef was cooked to perfection and plenty of it, veg and roast potatoes also very tasty and enjoyable, probably best roast we've had in a while. Good service and welcoming we will be back.

I read that pies are a speciality here, wow, the steak and ale pie was the best pie I've had in years, absolutely delicious, packed full of meat and flavour! Gravy was pretty spectacular too!Very cosy pub with friendly staff, fully recommended!

We only popped into this gorgeous 350 year old pub for a drink as Alfriston Clergy House was closed!Warm, welcoming, inglenook log fire burning! So laid back and relaxed, lots of dogs, walkers drying off their boots in front of the fire whilst playing Scrabble. We only had a plate of chilli beef nachos but so tasty! The roast beef Sunday lunch was going down a storm and sold out whilst we were there. We must return. As it quietened down, we met the owner and chef Chris, so personable and friendly and explaining his pie-press to us!A great local pub that deserves its well earned stars!Vegetarian options: There was a nut roast on the Sunday lunch menu

This pub was a real find as it is unusual to find one so unspoilt and traditional. Lots of interesting rooms in which to eat and quite a history of relationship e.g. with Farleys House, the home of Roland Penrose and Lee Miller which is just a short distance away. i had an excellent chicken curry for lunch and my partner chilli can carne. Good, friendly service.

A proper, honest family run pub. Excellent, home made food, friendly prices and staff. A true heart warmer, with real character and period features.
