Lovely refurbishment of the pub and service is excellent. The only downside is the cost of the beer. Cruzcampo £5.70. My local charges £4.70.

Haven't been in for a while. This place was lacking a bit of care. But now it's all changed! The whole place got new decor and the TLC it should have had. Tonight we tried their food and this is a place you need to come back!
The steak board (serves 2) got all the elements you usually have with a steak dinner. Everything was fresh and vibrant. The steaks were cooked just right. Salad and coleslaw and veggies were fresh. Chips and oinion rings were crispy but not greasy. 3 sauces were all sort on. Very generous portions so make sure you come in with an empty stomach.
Definitely will come back!

We decided to visit today after seeing how good the food looked on social media. The only thing on the menu was beef, pork or the pie. No main menu or sharing boards which is advertised online. In our party we had all 3 options and a kids meal, we were extremely disappointed by all of them. The meat was a couple of bits of the thinnest slices, no roast potatoes or crackling. Broccoli and parsnips were hardly cooked and the gravy was greasy. Pie was full of meat but very dry. The portion size was tiny for £18, it was an absolute rip off. After expressing our disappointment the lady behind the bar discounted our meals 50% which is only what the meal was worth. The kids hotdog was rock hard and we had to send this back. Really disappointed after traveling out just to come here.

Absolutely lovely pub! The food was fantastic and the portions were huge and the staff were absolutely fantastic!

Visited after seeing pics of amazing looking Sunday lunch sharing boards online and were very excited to try them, what we got was a drab plated dinner swimming in a grey and odd tasting gravy, the 'pork' was thin slices of belly pork and mostly fat with very little meat, no roast potatoes, no stuffing, no crackling. The mash and yorkshire pudding were nice, but the rest was unpleasant. Not cheap at £18. When we asked about the sharing boards they just said they weren't doing them today. Very disappointing and certainly won't be back.

Stopped for lunch whilst visiting York. Pub is in a nice location, with a decent enough outside seating area. Reminded me of a quaint 1950's village. The food served is a small menu with homecooked style food options. Descent enough quality ingredients. Friendly down to earth staff. Small but good enough selection of drink options. Worth a stop off if in the area.

First time visiting from edinburgh drinks, atmosphere and service good but the meal was bad, I had scampi some chips were hot some cold tartar sauce was salty scampi was hard , had a side of onion rings swimming in grease then was in the toilet being sick would not recommend false advertising didnt have half the stuff on menu or the specials

Called here on Thursday afternoon this week , beautiful day so we sat outside had a drink and the Plough Man?s sharing platter , it was massive , we took more home than r actually ate , it was beautiful, the salad was lovely and fresh and the varied hams & meat was amazing, definitely calling again

Lovely bar /restaurant. However the food was very disappointing even after the food was replaced. Triple cooked chips where very grease and not acceptable. We where very disappointed and would not recommend the food to anyone. The staff couldn't have been any better. Unfortunately the quality of there food was very poor.
