Staying in a new location does raise a little concern despite the excellent reviews but the reviews in this case were accurate.Google maps is your friend for finding Saltmarshe Hall as its quite a way from anywhere else. Saltmarshe Hall is an unassuming Georgian house sat in a large estate, with little to suggest its a hotel. The grounds are lovely and I can imagine relaxing with the odd refreshment in one of a number of areas. On arrival were were impressed by the entrance hall and we were checked in quickly and found our room with no problem. The room was very comfortable, with a lovely walk in shower. Our room was to the front of the house overlooking fields. We did see into some other rooms while there and I was very impressed by the suitesWe had dinner on both nights of our stay and the food was excellent, as was breakfast, both having good choices. There were very few guests when we stayed, and even fewer for dinner. However this had no effect on the service or on the food, both were excellent throughout our stay. The hotel specialise in being a weddings venue with the whole hotel is taken over by the wedding party, so room availability will obviously be impacted. However if there is availability I can wholeheartedly recommend staying here

Stunning location. Beautifully kept surroundings. An undiscovered treasure for us.Noteworthy details: The only drawback is lack of a lift. Rooms are beautiful but difficult to access if mobility is a problem

We had a lovely overnight stay here this week. The building is gorgeous, and so tastefully decorated, it feels 'posh' but without the stuffiness. The offer we got on Travelzoo was well worth the price, £199 for an overnight stay (worth £160), a bottle of Prosecco, 3 course dinner, and breakfast. The grounds seem awesome, although we travelled with a bad back so didn't do much exploring. It's quite remote, that could possibly be an issue, but with a car everything is very accessable. The rooms were clean, lots of amenities - robes, mini fridge, etc, and the staff were welcoming and friendly.I can totally see why people choose the place as a wedding venue. We found the food to be excellent, I had the venison carpaccio (lots of different flavours on the plate), the vegetation ravioli, and the cheese (Baron Bigod - although I wasn't a fan, my hubby was).Husband had the salmon, guinea fowl and ice cream (see my photos of the menu for a better description). All in all, we really enjoyed the stay. Would recommend.

This was definitely the nicest place I?ve stayed. If you can stretch the budget for a special occasion or find it on a stay I?d recommend. Off season it was quiet - a big plus. Attentive but not smothering hotel staff made us feel comfortable, catered to and heard. Would definitely visit again, thanks!

Just enjoyed an overnight stay at Saltmarshe Hall for our wedding anniversary. Although it?s in a pretty remote location it?s a hidden gem!The house and grounds are nicely attended to, everything looks very well kept. The room we stayed in was very impressive (Howdenshire), comfy, clean and well equipped. We had a three course menu on the evening and a fully cooked breakfast in the morning, all the food was of a high standard and was served in tasteful surroundings. The staff were all great, very friendly and attentive. We was made to feel very welcome right from the start until we checked out.We would definitely stay again and highly recommend it for a special occasion.Rooms: Very well equipped. Spacious, clean and decorated to a high standard. Felt very luxurious.

The hall and grounds are absolutely beautiful however the dining needs some serious attention. I was served raw pork and told it had been proved, pictures speak volumes so decide for yourself, also my wife ordered the fish and on her third mouthful had found a total of 9 bones. Not good at all however breakfast was lovely.Rooms: Amazing beautiful and well keptFood & drinks: Very very disappointing

Excellent hotel, came for a murder mystery meal which both the act and the meal was great. Stayed over for the night in a lovely and clean room, the breakfast and service was also excellent. The building is an old hall in a country park but the rooms and interior are more modern but still in the style of the building. Excellent time had and would recommend and come again.

1st class service from start to finish. We attended a murder mystery evening and booked a room as a treat for ourselves. Cannot fault service, food or room. All staff we met were thoroughly professional and extremely helpful and understanding.Rooms: Luxurious room with corner views. Unfortunately it was extremely foggy during our stay. So we shall just have to visit again! Extremely clean and cannot fault a thing. Bathroom spotless and bed comfortable.Food & drinks: We attended an event and the 3 course meal we had was spot on. As was the breakfast the following day. We'll definitely be back!

I visited the hall for afternoon tea, I had a few issues booking a time , as needs to have notice and then not all days possible .When I did book and attend it was positive, tea rooms are large and with sight across the grounds - tea was nice.Very helpful staff advice was to walk in the grounds which was a nice way to round off the visit. What I saw of the facilities was good and it's certainly a peaceful place.I would like to stay but that's for another time.
