First visit here and it didn't disappoint. The food was great, the quality of the meats is awesome. Everything cooked really well and all tasty. I didn't sample the cakes but they looked amazing!
The serving team are great, really friendly and attentive.

Lovely afternoon tea for my friends Birthday, choice of sandwiches freshly made, beautiful light fruit scone with jam/cream and a choice of cake... all super fresh and tasty.... endless cups of tea however as I don't drink tea, I was only allowed one cup of coffee.... would I book again ? "Yes it's a no brainer " we both enjoyed everything ? Thank you to all the staff on Wednesday for making my friends Birthday so special...

Recently enjoyed afternoon tea with our walking netball group.
The cafe is very accomadating , the staff are helpful and remember what we usually order. Ellie is teriffic with a ready smile.

Such a cute lovely place to go for breakfast, staff were friendly and the small breakfast I had was delicious. Especially like the chocolate mice that came with my drink.

Had a great, freshly cooked breakfast here. Excellent sausages, bacon, and eggs sourced locally. Nice friendly staff and cosy atmosphere.
Parking: Cafe is in a pedestrian only area but street parking 1hr, and large free car park at Co Op store nearby.
Wheelchair accessibility: Has wheelchair access to the front entrance.

Interesting last review giving one star. Seems to have a real attitude to places that struggle with the Gluten free issue. The fact is that small places struggle with cross contamination and so can't risk being sued if there is an allergic reaction. It is not an attitude, it is a commercial fact. They do what they can. We eat here all the time as do hundreds of others hence it a busy place. there are plenty of foods that are non gluten.....as it happens my wife is gluten free also and we have never had any issue. Neil does bake lovely gluten free scones when he can. Most places can only buy a limited ready made option. Don't be put off, its a great place.

If you are gluten free this is not the place to go!
They get their breakfast meat from Gary alden , butcher in hessle. Great but they will not buy his gluten free sausages as too expensive. I can tell u these gluten free sausages are not expensive.
They charged an extra pound for gluten free crumpet
.
The gluten free bread is cheap and the do not ask if u want butter on or not.
Not sure why the black cat is so popular as it is so so so expensive without them going the extra mile.
Very sad about eating there today.
In answer to your reply I was not rude.
It was your manager who told me the gluten free sausages were too expensive.
I did ask why the gluten free crumpets were more expensive, I can buy four from Sainsbury?s for 2 pound something.
So thanks for your response but I am not taking responsibility for being assertive!
