We were looking for a nice place to stay around Bridlington, we found The Highfield and it fitted the bill.We had a lovely day out touring the coast and arrived to The Highfield for a night. There was plenty of parking and the post code pretty much took us to the gate. We were greeted and escorted to our room with some great info. Our room was stunning, loved looking for Bees and Batman (you'll get what i mean if you've stayed in that room.Everything was provided , and the little tea, coffe, sweet jars round the corner was a great idea. Special thanks for the dairy free milk. The shower gel, shampoo etc was really good. That good i've ordered some from Amazon for the Mrs.The bed was really comfortable and the Netflix was a great addition (once we had a remote ,ha ha)I've mentioned my dairy intolerance and the Evening menu wasn't really for our taste, so we went to the Old Star in Kilham (10 minutes away) and had a fantastic meal there. The breakfast was really nice, lovely quality food cooked to perfection. We would certaily go to the Highfield again, The price was great, service was exceptional and the room was spectacular.Rooms: The room we had had wallpaper with Bees and Batman logo's everywhere, but very discreet and tastefull. Apparently ,all the rooms are different. I think thats the appeal of going back

Had Sunday lunch there recently, for £25 for a roast dinner we were expecting fresh produce, some of it was and others were warmed up roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and old roasted veg. The only nicest aspect of the meal was the yorkshire pudding and gravy. To take off the service charge we were asked to go to Reception to sort that out and return to the table to pay (the waiter only poured some water for us, and we paid £10 for the pleasure! :(( ) Don't dine here, you'll be wasting your hard earned £££

My friend took me for my birthday lunch. Very limited menu start choice soup, fish pie or steak and ale pie. Side was a salad. Extras offered were chips or bread and butter. We both ordered fish pie. My friend ordered chips with hers I didn't fancy chips and mash so didn't bother. When it arrived the fish pie was like in a metal curry dish which unfortunately was a bit rustie on the handle, a bit off putting. The salad came in a condiments bowl. It has I slice of tomato 2 slices of cucumber and a few sprigs of lettuce. No option of peas or any other veg. Very limited menu. Was never offered any salt, pepper or mayonnaise for the chips and was never asked if everything was alright. It wasn't that busy only 4 tables dinning. Came to just under £40 with a pot of tea for 2. Will I go back again properly but off putting was the lights dimming all the time.

We have just finished our amazing afternoon tea, with full size scones and mini cakes, tasty sandwiches etc. We also had a very yummy Bakewell Prosecco, we highly recommend it.The staff were very courteous and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Gemma was so lovely and friendly and as we were the last to leave, she offered to show us around the hotel. What an outstanding place to stay. Beautiful rooms, surprises around every corner, wonderful design statements- breathtaking!Georgia on reception was once again so friendly and helpful. We are lucky to have this in our area.Well done to the owners and all the staff, keep up the good work.

Visited this restaurant and was bitterly disappointed at the value for money and attitude of the owner. We arrived at 6.30pm for table of 5 and were told by the waitress that the beef dish (the main reason we visited the restaurant) Was sold out... 6.30pm? We then witnessed 2 tables being served that very dish! The other options on the menu were not very appealing so we opted for vegetarian dishes which were terrible.I booked our table a month in advance as it was for a special occasion. I complained to the waitress and asked for a discount off the bill due to the lack of choice regarding our preferred dish. However the so called manager/owner so I was told, would not even take the time to speak to me and I was given the excuse that he was busy in the kitchen and was not prepared to discuss the matter. Good luck dining here.. You have been warned!

We had our wedding at Highfield in November 2023. We approached the team at Highfield and told them about our plans to have a surprise wedding and they were amazing from day one. They kept our secret safe, helped plan how we would work little bits into our day and how to get announce it to our guests, which had an outcome of the best day ever! The team were so excited to be involved, we loved this. They made me feel so special on the day ensured everything was just perfect. The service, food, venue was spectacular. Huge thank you for making our special day special. Can't wait to come back for some drinks and food very soon. Thanks Lauren & Gaz xx

Having paid £120 each we expected a truly magnificent evening. The house is stunning and was beautifully decorated inside - many congratulations. I also can?t fault the staff who were helpful and polite and courteous. But the food! My starter was salmon which was very tasty but so small as to have actually been the size of a canapé. My main was cod - delicious- but again, a few small mouthfuls. Served alongside a single large chip which I assume was meant to be a potato fondant? And no veggies at all for the table. Desert was a very average Christmas pudding in a thin white sauce which screamed out for an ice cream or custard. The music was upstairs in a tiny room which was totally inadequate for the number of guests, good band and lovely voice but too loud for the room size. I agree with a previous comment that 2 unisex toilets for that many people is just not enough and they got pretty unpleasant by the end of the evening. The fireworks were fabulous and real treat. All in all just far too expensive for the quality of food we had and a drinks bill for 2 of over £120. Ouch Promises so much but just overpriced I?m afraid.

We stopped in between Christmas and New Year for a little getaway break from being home. We stopped in the "1610" room which featured a four poster bed, bath in the room, shower room, separate WC, and lovely decor. This Hotel is a mock Tudor built in 1864 and is lovely. The dining room is superb as is the hallway and stairs which welcomes you the minute you walk through the big oak entrance door. The Hotel is family owned and run and is different in a nice way to a lot of Hotels you stay at. We found this nice and endearing. The grounds and gardens are nice too I would imagine in the warmer months. The food was very good from the evening meal to the hearty breakfast the next morning. If you want something different to most Hotels you may stay at, give this a try. It may not be for everyone but we loved it.

WOW! and another Wow. We certainly didn't expect this highly recommended venue to be as amazing as this. It's an absolute "one off". Full marks to the family who run it along with the lovely personable staff. As for the food? Delicious and beautifully presented along with Shelley who does a superb job making sure everything is to our satisfaction ......she even found time to give us a conducted tour of this charming quirky but tastefully presented renovated property.Would I visit again ?.......... can't wait !Thank you for such an enjoyable , memorable afternoon .

We had a lovely, relaxed lunch there today in the YARN lounge. The staff were more than accommodating for our needs and we're pleasant and polite. Highfield House is a stunning building, the food was delicious and locally sourced. We spent over 3 hours here and didn't feel rushed at all. A must try if you want to go somewhere a bit different. Prices were more than reasonable too.

New Year?s Eve party- started off well with nice canopies and starter sadly went downhill from then onwards. Main course of beef, bizarre plate of soggy chips soaked through with watery jus, beef was tough and very small amount shredded leek although another guest thought it was cabbage, who knows. Stodgy baked cheesecake. Expected a coffee but not part of the menu. The band in a small room upstairs so loud you had to shout to make yourself heard , very disjointed with some upstairs guests and some downstairs The most disappointing thing was the state of the toilets, it was reported to reception and they said they would get them cleaned. Shouldn?t have to ask should have staff constantly checking them. Staff friendly and helpful but lack of management. Fireworks excellent.

Having eaten at The Highfield several times we enquired about holding our wedding anniversary celebration party there. The whole experience was chaotic and disorganised from the start. No one got back to us after our initial enquiry and then, having eventually booked it, we received no confirmation so phoned after 3 weeks and told there was no record of our booking. It was requested that our guests pre-order their choices from the menu, but every time I asked for the menu they kept telling me it hadn't been decided yet so I ended up having to contact all the guests at short notice with the options which the chef had chosen. On several occasions I was told I would receive a call back but never did, and emails were not replied to. I was told to contact different staff members regarding the food, canapes and the drinks respectively, yet one of them turned out to be on holiday and not back until after our party. We had to pay for all the food prior to the event and were charged £350 on top for the hire of the room, which we had not been told about previously. Then on the night, some starters were stone cold, 4 guests had been missed completely but the staff hadn't noticed and had to be informed - they eventually came 10 minutes after everyone else had finished and were different to what had been ordered. With the main course, instead of serving each table at a time, the food went cold as it took a considerable time for everyone's meals to arrive. We had been charged £60 per table for vegetables - potatoes arrived but only two tables received the large dish of mixed vegetables and that was after I had asked what had happened to them, and they came after everyone had finished. Even the chocolate mints, which you would have thought couldn't be spoiled, were melted inside the foil! Then as we said goodbye to some guests who were leaving, we returned to our table to find our partially filled wine glasses had been cleared away. Afterwards I sent an email with feedback about our event and a small amount was credited and we were offered a complimentary meal as compensation. However nothing could compensate for our ruined evening and I doubt we will ever go back. It is a shame as it is a lovely venue, but they don't seem to be able to cope with larger events.

Despite having being slightly disappointed on two previous visits to the Highfield (food was average and service was terrible on both occasions) my wife convinced be to give it another chance. We booked via the ?fork? App for 4pm on Christmas Eve. When we arrived the girl on reception was confused as she said last orders for lunch was2.30pm and the chefs had finished cooking. A lady who ?appeared?to be in charge then spoke to us and confirmed they don?t take bookings after 2.30pm. We showed her our booking confirmation for 4pm which she acknowledged, said they were having problems with the ?fork? App and apologised but said as the kitchen was now closed we wouldn?t be able to eat. She then took our email address and said she would contact us later that day with a ?gesture of goodwill? for the inconvenience caused. We are still waiting for the email 5 days later and don?t expect to receive one!!!

Absolutely fabulous, everything about this hotel, rooms brilliant, individual designs staff friendly, helpful.Views lovelyNoteworthy details: This is a stylish boutique extraordinary establishment. The owner's should be extremely proud.Comfortable beds, warm atmosphere and very good food.Non of the usual mundane things in majority of hotels. There's so many extra's, totally thought of their guests needs. Our room had beautiful views, loved the individuality of our room. The Mallard after the train. It's got all the original features, including a miniature railway track around the ceiling. We could not recommend this place more highly. Can't wait to return, especially with their little offers.
