It's a mixed bag of teachers, my child has gone from loving school in Primary and this has slowly dwindled to this year. 75% I would say of the teachers are lovely and supportive and clearly are in teaching for the right reasons but others (despite her been a well-behaved child with a will to work hard) are on a power trip to undermine and belittle pupils. The behaviour by some in her year is appalling (truancy, smoking/drinking on site, verbally abusing staff, disruptive behaviour) instead of challenging that, the teachers focus on petty problems issuing written's like they are going out of fashion. This school has given my daughter an okish education, in some subjects a good one but has turned my daughter into someone who at times gets quite stressed about school and her love of learning is barely there in some subjects. Like I commented before, the majority of her teachers are passionate and in teaching for the right reasons, but others clearly aren't and will not challenge poor behaviour, so pupils get the education they deserve.

This school is alright ? but the reson im giving it 3 star is becuse they have no non uniform days for like children in need or anything your allowed to wear 1+ item with your full uniform and Christmas jumoers you have to wear one over your uniform its very ridiculous they should just make some days non uniform instead of 1+ item and the bully is quite bad ? kids beying mean to one another but the teachers say they will sort it out but they don't really and the food is quite over priced its 1.50 for half of a sandwich and for burgers ? its 1.50 for milkshakes little ones its 60 p and for tiny tub of cheese its 50 p and for water its 80p and school free meals you only get 2.45p mostly all main food cost 1.50 and the school is very strict aswell please driffield school sort out these issues please ? but other wise these reson your a fantastic school those are just my main problems

Best school ever. They provide great education and advice on how to cope. I've been working very closely with the school because I'm on a special program (to help with my emotions ) and it's been proven good. And they take matters seriously and hand out the right punishments . Great school.

According to a teacher of mine . The school trash and bullying is extremely evident. If I could give it zero stars I would, Unfollowed.

Me becoming headteacher is more likely than this school passing another offsted inspection!

I'm giving 4 stars purely out of loyalty towards my school.
The teaching is awful. Staff pull sickies when they can't be bothered to turn up, and most don't live in the area so when there is bad weather they can't get through. Classes are out of control. Last week my mother and I were waiting in the reception area, listening to a classroom nearby, when one student appeared late and said "Sorry, sir, but i was raped on the way!" as some kind of sick joke, to which the teacher said nothing and let the student get away with his tardiness.
Target grades are too low and don't inspire students, and school reports are difficult to understand and are often incorrect and inconsistent.
The food is an absolute disgrace. The vegetarian options are limited, the custard is always lumpy, prices are often wrong and the sixth formers who work the tills usually have no clue what they're doing. The queuing system is illogical, with ks4 students going in first through the main door and ks3 being led through the busy canteen 10 minutes later, only to be led back through the hall and main door. Granted, they only do this because with the old system, where students crowded around the doors, a kid got crushed.
Form time is fun and interactive, with students in each form ranging from y7 to y11. Form tutors lead quizzes on current world issues and there are always form competitions and challenges going on. The house system is well run, although recently the school made the decision to get rid of one of the school's most famous and valued houses due to a lack of pupils.
The uniform rules are slack, i have to say, with students wearing hoodies and jeans and short skirts. However ties and blazers are being introduced in September so i cannot comment on that front.
I am one term into my GCSEs and so far have been excelling, with good teachers (apart from several supplies and old fogies who have been there since the beginning of time). The homework is frequent and challenging, as is the work in lesson time. The art course is especially brilliant and there's a lot of flexibility, with the opportunity to go back and finish work at lunch and on allocated nights after school. The maths department also have an extended help room for students throughout the school to use.
Driffield as an area can be known for being rough, and often people (students who have previously been expelled, or have been forced to move, or are skiving etc) tend to smoke outside the front gates. It's gross and really bad for the health of the other students who walk past them every day. Also, my brother has often entered the toilets during lesson times to discover older boys smoking e-cigs which don't set off the smoke alarms. This has made him apprehensive about using the school facilities.
I have not experienced much bullying myself, but my ex-boyfriend was driven out of the school because of bullies. They called him constant names, stole and broke his stuff, and humiliated him in front of the class. The teachers of these classes were supply teachers and didn't give a damn about our education, so the bullying continued until he had to leave. Luckily, he lived near to both this school and Woldgate, so the transfer was easy.
The head teacher is very hands-on. She likes to lead regular assemblies and is the SLT link to one of the school houses, and also teaches maths to occasional class. However her approach is very direct and it sucks the life out of the school; she's pretty recent, and doesn't understand the community feel of Driffield School. As well as removing an old and valued school house, everyone called her the Grinch at Christmas because she basically said no Christmas films or songs or chocolate on the last day, and went around school saying "Christmas doesn't begin until 3:30 on Friday!"
However, this is my school, and i will ALWAYS love it.

The food sucks, the teachers are terrible and the kids are out of control. Good riddance.
