Mixed experience here - my partner went into Hugh Rice to select an engagement ring and he received lovely service from some of the younger ladies who were extremely helpful and had a warm welcome. I also received the same lovely experience when I visited the first time.The second and third time we?ve returned (to have engagement ring re-sized and to select a wedding band), we?ve been served by an older lady and she was very unpleasant to deal with. Not welcoming, spoke quickly and corrected everything we said, also gave us incorrect information (said that wedding bands only went up to 7mm) and was extremely unhelpful when trying on the ring samples as she wouldn?t go and get the sample box so that we could actually fit rings on our finger to make decision. Unusual behaviour from this lady has really tainted our experience here.

Having dealt with HR team often over the years it's not only a pleasure to rate 5* but also important for a local family run business to receive the credit it is due. There are too many anecdotes to highlight just one out of all the events, trips, purchases and chats. But each as special as the other. Each team member has been great and special thanks to Max, Lily, Mike and Allun.

I have amazing thanks to Max Rice and All at Hugh RiceAfter my mums recent passing I asked they remade her wedding rings- the original in yellow gold - as she wanted to be buried with them, The Rings and designs that were decades old. They took images and scans and spent months getting them remade with such accuracy.I cannot express how much their time and attention to detail mean.I have a forever memory, a once in a lifetime special every day happy reminder.I'm alright sure you will agree the craftsmanship is exquisite! My partner has just rang them about a watch that needs altering . The sales woman was so snotty and rude. My partner asked can you alter my watch ? I was going to bring it in before now but we?ve had lockdown. The sales woman replied if there is a que of ?CUSTOMERS? then no you will have to leave it. My partner responded by asking am I not a customer? If I spend £10 or £1000 I?m a customer.***************UPDATE***************The manager rang my partner first thing this morning and was very apologetic about what happened and altered her watch free of charge.So she had very poor service followed by 1st class service.With this in mind I?ve changed the review and given 3 stars. Had it have been just based on the managers service it would have been 5.
