It?s VERY disappointing to see how unreasonable the pricing in this charity shop has become. Many preloved items are priced higher than what you can buy brand new in clearance sections of the original store, or much cheaper on Vinted or eBay.
No preloved item with heavy signs of use, age, wear, or bobbling should ever be priced higher than £5?£10. It?s a real shame to see such tatty items in this shop priced at £15?£20+ simply because they?re from a well-known high street brand. Even more concerning are the prices being asked for mid-range designer labels, which are set far beyond what most customers would reasonably pay in a charity shop.
While raising funds is important, inflated pricing like this only deters customers and pushes them away from supporting the cause. Charity shops should feel accessible and affordable, not overpriced and discouraging. I truly hope Age UK reviews its pricing strateg in this store, because fairer prices would encourage more people to shop, support, and strengthen the charity in the long run.
Sadly, this particular shop has become a disappointment to the town of Beverley. I avoid this shop completely now and instead spend my money in the other charity shops in the town, which offer far more reasonable and fair pricing. (And often nicer items too!)
