Wouldn't recommend this building society if it was the last building society on earth. The customer service has a lot to be desired not only in branch but the call centre. Having spent a total of over 2.5 hours on the phone over 2 days to the call centre I was told to go into local branch. The staff member in Stockton (Julie) was very rude & unhelpful upon explaining the situation she basically said it wasn't her fault threw my id back at me . The only person that was helpful was the branch manager who eventually sorted my problem out. Very poor customer service & very rude staff . I was promised by the customer service team that a complaint would be logged & someone would contact me in 3 days funny that I'm still waiting.

I took money to put in my partner's saving account they won't take it. he has no card and can not get there during the week as bank is shut Saturdays if this is just during the pandemic surely you should think about closing a weekday and at least opening half day on Saturday for workers it's very frustrating when you need money for things.

The staff in the Nationwide branch at Stockton are the most unhelpful l have ever dealt with. The branch does not have a cash machine inside the building, only on the main street. They refuse to take cash over the counter and send you to the machine outside. How long does it take for them to take the cash and update your account? On my last visit there were two cashiers, no one else in the branch and I was still directed onto the main street to deposit my cash, leaving the cashiers sitting there doing nothing.
Other branches at Redcar, Middlesbrough and Darlington are more than happy to take my cash in branch. It just appears to be Stockton that are awkward and not customer friendly. My advice would be to go to one of the other branches.
