Attended for a pre-booked appointment to get a dash cam fitted. A week later I received a parking charge notice for exceeding the 2 hrs parking limit (by 19 mins). I'm challenging it, but others need to be aware of this risk.

In August 2024 I was persuaded to pay for an annual subscription to Drivers Club Premium at Halfords in Stockton. My subscription was later cancelled and my order history partially deleted after I took advantage of their free MOT a few months ago at their Skippers Lane auto centre in Middlesbrough. In spite of running seemingly flawlessly Halfords failed the car on numerous issues and presented me with a £900 repair quote. I took the car to a more scrupulous mechanic who fixed everything for a fraction of the price. Halfords re-tested the car and couldn't find any more issues, but I later discovered that my Drivers Club Premium membership had been annulled and I no longer had access to member discounts. As they have offered no explanation I can only assume that they wanted to cut their losses. I had already taken advantage of all their member benefits and they weren't making enough profit from me. My membership was supposed to run until 24 August 2025. They had also been emailing me about previous MOT failures and advisories on a van that I own after I got them to fix a damaged tyre on the van. I got the van tested elsewhere and it passed on all the points that Halfords would have failed me on.
