Very overpriced, far too much stock
April 2023 by Samuel Cumiskey
Although the quality of stock is pretty good, and most the staff are on point in doing their jobs, the prices are utter ridiculous. £10 for a PC game is pathetic, especially since hardly anyone buys them nowadays. A cost of living crisis and customers are getting scammed. They need to change their pricing strategy now, othwerwise they will lose out on a lot of money.

I've had a look at the other reviews and I agree that when it comes to DVDs, blu rays and games, it's the most expensive charity shop ever, thought I was in London! Most charity shops in the North East do 10 DVDs for a pound or 5 for a quid but blu rays are normally 50p or a pound each but in here they are at least a pound and some are like £10 plus, couldn't believe it. As it's been said that's CEX and eBay prices, don't expect that hike in a charity shop were everything is donated. But on the other hand they have the best selection of blu rays I've seen in a charity shop just cheaper to get then on line. Do get the occasional HD 4K blu ray in which I buy, normally a pound cheaper than eBay but still very very expensive but always in very good condition though and yea, the staff do look like you're gonna rob the place if you look like you're under 80.

The staff give you very shady looks as if you?re about to do something bad. It makes for a very unnerving and uncomfortable atmosphere. The prices are ridiculous too, they price their dvds at CEX and ebay prices, even though the donations given to them are free. It?s pretty off putting. I?d suggest donate your items to another charity or a reasonably priced BHF.

How on earth this shop (Billingham, North East) manages to stay open is beyond belief? Methinks they gauge their prices (via higher end E-bay 'shysters') conveniently forgetting that these items were given to *them* for free? They had a 'Prisoner Cell block H" Dvd in there (just a volume....not the entire collection) priced at £40 (and two others at £28 each)Now I'm fully aware that certain DVD's can fetch a little more online....but BHF's false equivalency of "it makes more for the charity" is completely redundant (given that no-one realistically would spend for a DVD in their stores?)

Friendly staff with an abundance of reasonably good priced products ranging from donated Bric-A-Bracs to new products specifically bought in from the BHF.
Exceptional presentation in the store floor as many of the ornaments are colour co-ordinated. Little to no litter on the floor including dropped hangers etc.

It's hard to criticise a charity shop, after all, it's charity. I do like to wander around the charity shops looking for that forgotten gem, particularly books and records, and there are quite a few in this part of Billingham Town Centre. This shop has quite a good stock of both books and records, along with the usual other items like clothes and ornaments. The only problem is I really think they ask too much money for things, especially the books. I've seen second hand books in there for £3, which is really too much for something I just wanted to buy on a whim.
