We stopped for a lite bite, the venue was stunning with picturesque views but sadly the food let it down.
Firstly we had a frosty reception from the bar manager when ordering drinks. When it came to ordering food we ordered 3 ploughman sandwiches.
To call them ploughman's was far fetched as it was a sliced peice of cheese with a thinly spread amount of pickle on what could only be described as the driest bread ive ever had.
A side salad with no dressing or vinegarette that tasted bitter. The chips were the saving grace.
All this for £10. Was not asked if we required condiments or asked if everything was OK with our food .
I'd say at a push £6 for the cheese and pickle sandwich. Thank god we had a drink as it was the driest thing that ive ever eaten.

This would have been one star had it not been for the waiter. We waited over an hour and a quarter for our food. The waiter did his utmost to appease us but he was clearly in an impossible situation. With a major staff issue in the kitchen. The food was good, and the surroundings are lovely, but this was an unacceptable delay that spoiled, what was a special occasion. Thank you to the waiter who had to deal with the fall out. He deserves recognition for his efforts.

We hosted our wedding at The Black Horse Beamish last week, and from start to finish, Georgiana and the entire team were nothing short of outstanding.
With many years of experience in hospitality and customer service, I often notice the little things that are missed in restaurants and hotels ? but here, there was not a single detail overlooked. In fact, what impressed me most was seeing the team anticipate and resolve things before they even became issues. Their diligence and attention to detail were truly impeccable.
The kitchen was, quite simply, perfection. Although we dine here regularly as a family, I was still blown away by the wedding breakfast. Every guest commented on the quality, flavour, and flawless timing of the service. It was outstanding in every way.
In the evening, our bar was run by someone who was more than just a bartender ? they entertained our guests and added to the atmosphere beautifully - Thank you Dan.
I normally like to balance reviews with both positives and suggestions for improvement, but in this case, there is nothing I would change. The Black Horse Beamish delivered beyond our expectations, and we could not have asked for more.
If you are looking for a venue that combines excellence, warmth, and professionalism in equal measure, this is it.

Nice place with stunning views. Food was adequate, we waited an hour and was constantly told the food was on its way. Had decided on this pub, after an offer was published on Facebook offering kids meals for £5. When paying was told this was Monday to Friday and didn't include weekends. Wouldn't rush back as staff and experience not the greatest.

Had a wonderful meal at the restaurant. The sticky toffee pudding is the best I've ever had. The staff were so friendly, the location views picture perfect. Ill definitely be coming back to try their Sunday lunch.

Party of 6 for breakfast this morning.
Told only fried eggs available. They were very over cooked. Full English not the best l have had overcooked egg missing mushroom burnt hash brown and sausage was only cooked on one side. This place came up in a search for best in area but l would not personally say that was a good breakfast and the portions are small. Aldo charged for a full breakfast for a child who only had bacon toast and an egg which is a bit much really. Bacon sandwich was good ordered pit of tea and coffee that did not come and they also didn?t have any orange. Very poor experience £86 plus so not great value either. Definitely would not return.
Real shame as place is such a lovely setting with so much potential but service and food a huge let down.

Booked a room for 2 nights for my partner and I.
For my birthday, the accommodation was amazing, very clean and well presented.
Some small problems i.e. shower has very slow draining leading to over flowing into room and only the rainforest head works,
In the main bedroom some of the lights didn't work.
The restaurant fantastic food very clean.
The bar clean and tidy.
The staff well this is where the problem's are, most of the staff just give the impression that they don't like to be there no interest in wanting to serve you, resulting in long waits and poor communication between staff.
leading to being presented with another tables bill.
Beautiful venue and fabulous surroundings let down by the staff.
Would hesitate about a return visit.

Stopped over here in our Campervan , views are fantastic. We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious , highly recommend.

Absolutely beautiful grounds and location.
We were only there for a quick coffee on a Saturday before another engagement but my god the grounds are incredibly beautiful. Coffee was really good too!
