Dirty, rough, old fashioned, poor choice of shops, to call it a town is laughable

Not much there apart from empty shops

Like other towns, the centre is dying with more units shut and the majority that are still there are struggling against the pressures of rent costs and the exorbitant rate charges set by the county council. Add, trying to compete against the nearby supermarkets and ease of internet shopping means that unless there are major changes, the centre will be dead in our lifetime. The Centre owners are quite clearly looking to save money. This shows by the lack of cleanliness and now non existent security which in turn brings on increasing case of anti social behaviour and the shops having to change the way they look in dealing with the increased cases of shoplifting. They needs to be a stop by them though in the ripping off of shoppers off by issuing bogus invoices for going over the time allocated by them in the car parks. They even target staff who work in shops they do not rent out! They need to attract people to the town centre rather than drive them away but other than bringing in more eateries and leisure pursuits it will end looking more like a ghost town.

Lift been out of order for god knows how long, shops closing down. Needs money spent on this place.

More shops boarded up than open. Needs new shops to open and make it worth going to again.

Nice centre it has some nice shops. Plenty of charity shops. It's a pity that there are a few closed down.

Peterlee in decline, only go to charity shops. Mist independent retailers priced out by American owners. Was always vibrant, but large Costa Coffee had a big impact on independents. We are not just a coffee nation, what happened to the nations tea drinkers. Most stores now on separate site, and traffic chaos is a problem. The atmosphere of the town, spoilt by larger stores, limiting choice and shoppers experience. There is little dining experience or entertainment options.

Nothing really to write home about. Charity shops and cafes mainly. Not very often I go there.

A lot has changed since I was there lost, over a decade ago.Things have modernised, space has been used more effectively and the most popular places have found their way to Peterlee, such as McDonald's, B&M, Asda, etc.Access to the area has definitely improved, it feels like you can get to the shops from almost every direction. The retail park, small as it is, is located right next to the town centre shops, which is very handy indeed. So from over a decade ago things have definitely improved.

It's sad to see so little variety of shops . The town centre looks and feels like a ghost town . It basically needs flattening and rebuilding with opportunity for people to rent better shops with more variety.
