Great food and atmosphere, only downside was the service was slow from the waiting staff when it wasn?t that busy. Would definitely recommend however.
Food and drinks: Great seasonal menus on offer

Renowned for its lovely food, a nice village pub overlooking the village green. Price of drinks has recently been increased, which could have an impact on the atmosphere. Only time will tell.

Went there first time about two weeks ago encouraged by the reviews and unfortunately didn?t like it. The ambient of the place is very nice as well as the service( can?t blame the waiters) but the food was well below average. I had (a very pricey) Sunday roast and I couldn?t be more disappointed. It was truly a bizzare concoction? never had a jacket potato with my Sunday roast before? One pig in blanket, one of each boiled vegetables (broccoli etc), gravy that tasted like made from granules, bland turkey, no nice sides. No effort was put into this dish and it tasted like hospital meal rather than something served at a top rated pub.

Food and drinks: We meet distant friends for Sunday lunch at this midway spot a few times per year and always served excellent meals and drinks from friendly and efficient staff

Such a lovely place to stay, a cosy little apartment with everything you could possibly need, the pub itself is also very welcoming, Alex the front of house manager was very chatty and made us very welcome he went above and beyond to make sure our stay and our dining experience was perfect. Thank you Alex for your hospitality, we will definitely be back it's perfect for us as we have family who live in the village.
Rooms: Spacious very comfortable bed, plenty of space for you clothes ect and nice to have a sitting room and fridge we will definitely be back to stay in the near future.
Food and drinks: Stunning home cooked food, plenty of choice for breakfast and help yourself to juices, cereal yogurts.

The room was nice, but if you lock yourself out good luck. My key card to the room wouldn't work, the front desk was closed, and i was on hold with the "24-hour" help line for an hour before i fell asleep in the hallway. Says they open at 7, 730 rolls around and still no one there and at that point i had to head off.

Had a great meal, the steak and ale pie was phenomenal, lovely thin short crust pastry with lots of steak, my wife chose from the saver menu which was great as well. Also very friendly with great service

Food and drinks: Met with friends for an evening meal and the staff were incredible. We were an excited group of 8, and they couldn?t have been more friendly or accommodating.
The food was delicious and catered for all our needs.
The service timing was perfect, we had lots of catching up to do and didn?t feel rushed. It couldn?t have been any better.
Thank you to everyone who worked that night (23rd July).

Midweek family get together. Pleasantly surprised as to how busy it was. Booked online the evening before, smooth experience. Meal was on the high side of good. Last visited more than 15 years ago (different owners). Would recommend certainly. Newton Aycliffe needs decent restaurants / eateries and I would say that currently The County leads the way.
