In sorting out a problem transferring money internationally the Hartlepool staff were very helpful and went above and beyond to assist. Individual problems may require some negative comments but we know that it is likely these are posted in anger with more frequency than positive ones giving a lower rating than it deserves. I?ve been with Nationwide for over 30 years and the service has been exemplary with only a few exceptions.

I work during the week and rely on being able to go to my bank on a Saturday. But I've found that Hartlepool branch is now closed on a Saturday, which is very inconvenient for me and I'm sure many others. The reason I needed to go in was regarding transferring funds into an isa from another higher interest account. I tried to sort it by phone but was told I would need to go into a branch. Therefore I now need to book time off work to just be able to access my branch. This is really annoying. When I do go into the branch I will now be transferring my money to the Halifax who respect that their customers need to access their branches at the weekend. I feel this is a shame because I have been with the Nationwide for many years and have been happy.

I had the same experience as the last customer's comments. Staff taking to each other about where they were going while serving me. Also they can't be bothered to serve . The male staff are pleasant and obligingly when they serve you . I am a long standing customer . In fact the older lady in charge asks each time , why I don't go to a different branch where I have a apartment . Instead of making my books up to date in Hartlepool . They have not been busy when i have called .

I went into branch today to enquire why a considerable amount of my money that i needed to pay rent with still wasn't showing in my account after almost an hour. When i got into the branch there was no que but i was still left standing for 3-4 minutes waiting for a colleague to finish what ever ot was she was doing and her conversation which another colleague. When i eventually got seen she had a very laid back attitude and i had to actually repeat on her request to re-explain what id already told her because she clearly wasn't listening, so i did her attitude was shocking she just kept saying there was nothing she could do with a shocking attitude. I was understandably, very irate at this point and did state that i thought it was absolutely rediculous and walked out of branch. I thought id have a bit better luck with the phone team so i rang the first number i googled unfortunately i didn't realise at the time that i had my location settings turned on and the 0800 number i rang was for the branch id just been into it wasnt until i was half way throught the call and was greeted with the exact same shocking attitude and the "customer services" advisor actually said "you've just been into branch and spoken to me and i've already told you there is nothing we can do and i don't want to listen to you any more and i won't ill put the phone down on you if you continue with this attitude, the customer that was in branch even said that i didn't deserve to be spoken to the way you spoke to me." I must clarify that yes i was a little short due to the panic because of the situation and being entaganised by a supposed professional member of a banking team but i wasn't in anyway abusive.
Needless to say i felt like i was in the school yard arguing with a teenager not speaking with customer services personel. I demanded that she would listen to me and i wanted to have the matter sorted out but before i could even finish that sentence she groaned down the phone and said to her colleague " oh i can't be arsed to talk to her." And put the phone down on me. To say i am furious about the situation is an understatement. If i spoke to one of my customers like that once let alone on more than 1 occasion regardless if the customer had an attitude with me i would have been let go on the spot.
