Best fruit and veg you can get in Durham. The quality is top tier, and Mrs Robinson is the kindest and most helpful woman I?ve ever met. The knowledge she has about her produce is amazing and inspiring, and her love for her community, of all cultures, is heartwarming. She loves to accommodate anyone and even if they don?t have something you want in stock, she will order it in especially for you. The wide range of fruit and vegetables which caters for all cuisines, shows that she loves and understands different flavours and food from all cultures. Can?t see you being able to buy such produce as salsify, plantain, etc anywhere else in Durham. 1000/10 always recommend. A destination shop for Durham.By the way Mrs Robinson is the dark haired woman not the other woman described below. X

Witnessed the owner and colleague drag a man (who was in the recovery position and very unwell) to the entrance of the charity shop next door because ?I have a business to run? and ?he?s foreign?. Absolutely revolting behaviour. Tried to tell me she could move him from a potentially life saving position because she was responsible for the main public path on North Road. I will never shop here again because I have morals. Sainsbury's is across the road.

This fruit and vegetable store indeed offers high-quality produce. However, the customer service at this store is simply unacceptable, especially from a glasses-wearing elderly lady. She treats us Asians very poorly while warmly welcoming the Caucasian customers beside us. It is truly frustrating and disheartening. As someone who suffers from depression, I feel extremely fearful and dispirited every time I have to face her. I hope she can improve her attitude and learn to get along harmoniously with people from all of the world.

It is a very good shop with lots of high quality fruit and vegetables and spices, my favourite shop in Durham, but I rarely go to this shop now because of the unacceptable attitude of one of the service staff. There is an old lady with short silver hair and glasses who treats non-white customers very badly and I have reason to seriously suspect that this bad attitude is due to racist influences, the impatience and disgust with non-white customers is evident in the way this person talks and acts and it bothers me so much that every time I see this person in this shop I find it a challenge to confront her. I think if you need the job then you need to get your attitude right and not ignore all greetings from non-white customers and have no desire whatsoever to ask if you need a ticket or a bag. Greeting you in a friendly manner because I am well educated and know that courtesy is mutual should not excuse you from treating customers rudely, the arrogance of racists is tiresome.

My girlfriend and I go here almost every week and while the produce is mostly decent, we have had quite a few negative encounters. The young male and female staff are very kind, however every time we encounter the older white female (i think she is the owner?), she is incredibly rude and hostile. Though the rest of the staff is aware of our student status (since we have shown them our IDs multiple times), she always refuses to give us a discount. Weirdly enough, she is really kind to non-coloured individuals, but if you are black, brown, or east asian, her entire demeanour shifts. It's a pity to see such blatant racism in this day and age, and so, I personally won't be supporting such a business anymore.

Absolutely love this place, wouldn't go anywhere else for fruit, veg and eggs. Always super pleased with the quality. Customer service is a little lacking sometimes though, some staff are very abrupt.
