“The CoOp is great. They have decent prices, large selection, and their in house brand is excellent. Their inhouse brand, as well as many others they carry are both ethical and environmentally friendly. Occasionally it gets a bit too crowded for me, and I wish they asked people to stay outside until another person comes out, but that usually happens around when school gets off or lunch time”

“I visited Bowburn Spice for the first time tonight to have a take away. There is a lovely restaurant as well as the take away service. The prices are very reasonable and the food is exceptional. Fresh onion bhajis not greasy and nice and crisp, pilau rice which was well spiced and the rice well separated, tarkha daal which was just as I remembered it from my travels in India and Nepal and Chicken Jalfrezi. Nice flavours and spicy too! They do local deliveries too. I will definitely be back, maybe to dine in next time.”

“Needs no introduction... It's Aldi...Good shop, not the biggest, but a bit better than lidl nearby with more choice of quality products at a fair price, with occasional sale bargains if your in the right place at the right time... Just nabbed some 4 kilo bags of bbq briquettes for £1.50... Score...!”

“Called in whilst staying in Durham with my daughter and couldn't have been more impressed. Very attentive and helpful staff; excellent customer service. To our surprise, we actually found a much better selection and prices than our local store which is slightly bigger - so ended up filling a rucksack with healthfoods, supplements and snacks for our trip.”

“This is a local convenience store, what makes it convenient to me is the locality and the opening hours, the prices can be a bit up there, but that’s what you get for convenience, staff are always ready to serve and seem cheerful, with a good all round selection of goods and alcohol.”

“Fantastic shopping experience. Staff are very polite and friendly. The shelf stacking staff was extremely helpful. I've witnessed a cashier patiently listen to a mobility challenged elderly woman and assist her with the best of her ability.”

“Popped in a few times whilst staying in Durham recently. Was very impressed with the size of the store, the huge range of goods available, ample parking and the super friendly staff. I'm used to our local stores being small, cramped and only carrying a small amount of stock (plus very limited parking) so it was actually a joy shopping at Newton Hall which I never thought I'd be saying about grocery shopping!”

“Just a common small Tesco, works almost all day long, including Sunday evening. It has very good location at the buss terminal, so it's convenient to make shopping, get a buss and go. The assortment us not wide, but sufficient (not all network propositions and bargains available). The shelves are usually full. The prices are reasonable (avarage as elsewhere in this network). Usually no consultants inside.”

“Called today whilst in the area and decided to try the full cooked breakfast. Couldn’t fault the food for the price paid. Everything cooked as expected and certainly value for money. Wouldn’t hesitate to eat here again”

“Spacious and well-stocked. I like how they have a variety of brands, including the house-brands which are competitively priced. The reduced-to-clear section often has good deals. Very fast and no-frills checkout if using the self-service tills”

“My review is for the Tesco Cafe within the store, upstairs. It was a gem of a find! First visit to this store was today on a Sunday, 2.30pm and still able to order a full breakfast! Personally, I think this is remarkable in itself. So few places serve after 11am. How fabulous to arrive after a very busy morning and few hours elsewhere, feeling extremely peckish to discover a cooked breakfast is available to order. Well done Tesco! You have definitely got this right. I for one will travel purposely to this store for that alone. The Cafe is a good size overlooking the whole enormous store. It is very well kept. Clean & tidy. The staff all seemed extremely friendly, polite and efficient. Great menu choice too. An array of ALL DAY breakfast choices plus cooked snacks and lunchtime meals. All very competitive prices. This was a very pleasant find in this "everything has changed and gone up in price world" we live in today.I can't comment too much on the store itself. Seemed extremely large and full of choice. A pets at Home within middle of store which is great for pet owners. I used to be one and a huge fan of pets at Home. The store has a clothes section too, which is very good. A lot of checkouts to accommodate everyone. Overall, great store. Easy parking.”
