Had a lovely lunch here of a burgerless chicken burger - very crispy and flavourful! Plenty of fresh bakes available for next visit - too full to try this time.Decor is exposed brickwork, fairy lights, many plants, very soothing vibes! Only thing is as the restaurant is set in multiple rooms over 3 floors, the staff are a bit scarce to find - though they are attentive when you get one. Still recommend

The atmosphere is amazing. However, this is the worst latte I've ever had in my life, and I've had a lot of bad lattes. Jesus Christ. I think/hope this is a one time incident and they're generally good. It would be such a shame for a place like this.

Very nice breakfast, coffee, staff and building. All round good experience. Its very popular, even arriving 20 mins after it opened we had to queue for 15 mins for a table. It was worth the wait.

I have been a regular here for over a year and always visit for breakfast. There is nearly always a queue which you queue to the left where the bench is and leave space for people walking past so you are not forcing them in to the road. I visited again December 2023 and it is becoming a common problem that although delicious and earthy the food is being served Luke warm, service is very slow and inattentive and seems to be getting worse at every visit. Coffee is the best in Durham if you are lucky enough to have it hot. I feel a little more disappointed every time I visit.

First visit after many attempts but always been a long queue. Brunch was excellent, service was excellent and coffee excellent. Would highly recommend and will definitely return. We had Korean Chicken pancakes and Sweetcorn fritters and can?t fault

We loved this place - like so many before us it seems! Such thoughtful staff, interesting surroundings, and well-presented and delicious food. It's probably just as well we don't live in Durham or we'd be eating out there every day! Thank you all and here's to your continuing success.

Absolutely one of my favorite brunch and breakfast places in Durham. It is so lovely. There are so many plants on the shelf which are so cute, andand the tablestables are quite clean, the staff are friendly, and efficient, and they have very nice dessert such as pistachio lemon cake slice and their egg Benedict and sandwiches are very tasty as well. However, last time I ordered pancakes here and they put too much jam or syrup, it was too sweet. And this time, the lemon ginger tea was too sour because they put too a whole ginger in it. If the stuff can be more careful when they make food, this place would be perfect.

Cute little restaurant in the centre of town. I had the pancakes and they were delicious but the portion and a bit too big! Great place to visit but be warned you may have to wait outside.

Great atmosphere, friendly and helpfull waiters, but waiting time and kitchen is a big problem. The claim of exquisite food is not true, quite unfortunately!A lot of very interesting items in the menue, looks good on photoes too, BUT the actual taste is so-so.I had pancakes with ham and syrup, ham was dry but not crispy, pancakes were more like undercooked English scones, not the plump American, not the sour Russian versions of the pancakes. I'd rather order scones if I knew.Affogato obviously had to wait to be delivered from Italy -icecream melted and coffee became tipid. Very disapoointing, on the verge of disgusting.A friend had something vegetarian, the rice was cold, greyish in colour, unsalted even!Disappointed, they could do more than they actually do!This place is fashionably popular among students. So sometimes there is 10-20 people waiting in the queue. Actually if you come earlier you can avoid that. However, inside you'd have to wait much much longer anyway. Probably because they need more staff? And it would be fine to chat with a friend when you wait, but you often get your food cold. The interrior is very nice. And the atmosphere is very good. And the waitors are very friendly and helpfull every time. But I am not sure I want to come back, there are other better places.Funny enough, every time we leave feeling happy. They might be adding something to the air, some love potions?!

If you are visiting Durham and want a nice place to have something to eat or just a coffee you won't go far wrong by visiting the Flat White Kitchen, 40 Saddler Street, Durham, DH1 3NU. The best car park to park in is the Prince Bishops Car Park (DH1 3UJ) it's quite reasonable price wise. Go up the steps and you will easily find the way to the Flat White Kitchen on Saddler Street. It is open 9am to 4pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays. There was a ten minute wait for a table but we'll worth the wait. Our order was taken by Amelia who was very professional and friendly. As you would expect the coffees are excellent. If you have a sweet tooth the caramelised banana pancakes with cinnamon cream, candied pecan and house syrup are delicious. The portion is very generous so you wouldn't need anything else. The sweetcorn fritters with avocado, poached eggs, chipotle mayo and bacon (optional) are also excellent. Thank you to all concerned. The bill (including 10% service charge) was £41.80 for two. I was full up until breakfast the following morning. Compliments to the chef and all the lovely staff who all seemed jolly.
