This is a beautiful campsite in a stunning location that is let down by the cleanliness of the showers. I don't like to leave a bad review, but this is the third time we have stated here and the dutuation hasnt changed. There is black mould in the corners if the cubicles. The showers are smooth plastic trays that are slippery when wet. The drain was blocked with hair and dirty soap scum in the one I used yesterday, so the water overflowed and soaked my clothes (left on the floor because no jooks had been provided). The mops provided were absoluteley filthy and sitting in buckets full of dirty grey water. There was nowhere to change the water and clean the mops. Are these facilities ever cleaned?

Small site offering beautiful views. Pitches are sometimes sloped. Toilets and showers urgently need some renovation and upgrades although they are clean and functional. But for 42£ per night you can expect better facilities.
Nevertheless it was a nice stay and the staff is very friendly and offered us a place without previous reservation

Have been calling in here since I was a teenager and my dad used to bring us, it was called the shoulder of mutton back then. It's changed hands a lot in that time.
It now has camping available out the back.
Not a lot of people in on this sunny Friday evening. The staff were friendly and polite.
They were busy cleaning the tables down but the floor could have done with a sweep.
The drinks were fine and the food was okay.
They didn't have many people inside and I'm guessing most were campers staying over.

As a family of 6 we went to the Countryman for the first time in many years for our Mum's 80th birthday dinner at the start of May 2025.
We received a warm welcome from lovely staff and enjoyed a great selection of food all of which arrived promptly and was very tasty.
They even kindly put a candle in Mum's pudding when we forgot to give them the ones we'd brought with us!
Have already been telling all our friends about it (especially the ones with dogs who are welcomed too) and will be back again hopefully soon. ?

Extremely rude to his staff, food was cold but after seeing in person how he treats his staff the food was the least of his worries.
Paul needs to hang his head in shame, poor young girl was being absolutely ridiculed by him. I was really unhappy with my experience here and I recommend people to open their eyes when dining here.
Couldnt wait to get my caravan off the site the next morning.

I Love Bolam & the Countryman, which didn't Disappoint ; for ME.
However: 'She who must be Obeyed' Stated; the Plain/Painted? Wood Tables were 'STICKY'.
Our Sunday Lunch was TASTY & Enjoyed by ALL Four.
However: 'One' was Not Pleased & won't visit Anymore.
Folk have to Accept the Rustic Appearance which is Uniquely, Nice.
Staff were Fun & Efficient, Allowing us to change Our Table: Twice!
My Advice is to See for Yourself : Because some 50 Diners can't be Wrong.
Perhaps Table Cloths will settle the Quandry : 'A Ha'prth of Tar' won't Cost A Song!!?
