I have lived near Morrisons, North Rd, Darlington for 28 years. Used to be a brilliant supermarket, it has gone from bad to worse in recent years. Terrible service from what looks like demoralised staff, terrible self service checkouts, lots of price labels wrong, hot food counter always empty when people finish work at 5pm, far too many multi buys do get anything at a decent price, I use less and less, Aldi superior.

Gone down hill pass year. First, only self check-out after 6/7. Found this out after a weekly shop, and had to go with trolley through self check. While a snotty member of staff complained I was taking up 2 tills.
Second, no more heating. The whole place feels like the freezer isle. Staff have been issued with fleeces and padded jackets. It's warmer outside somedays in winter.
Third, half the lighting gets turned off later in day.

Morrisons has lots of offers on friendly staff, very helpful clothing department very good especially the children's area, nice cafe as well children can eat free all day with 1 child to 1 adult meal, that's really good value.

This place is horrendous! Morrisons is not Morrisons I knew, prices are disgusting, signage above isles doesn't marry up with what's on the shelves so it's a game of guess where we hid it today! Then when you get to the self service checkouts no bags, because the lady running around like a blue arsed fly has them in her hand because heaven forbid they get stolen hey! Then you are asked to pay 60p to carry goods youve bought at extortionate prices home... It's a joke, this is why me and thousands of others shop at Aldi & Lidl the x2 best supermarkets in the UK.. Morrisons you need to look at how Aldi & Lidl do things and stop screwing the struggling public over. I won't go into the Morrisons cafe disgrace that's for another day.

They have a very good variety of foods and there layout is very clearly however the staff are one of the rudest staff i have ever experienced in my life and there customer service is appalling. They were rude arrogant and frankly quite discriminating. As i where a headscarf i felt quite hurt. Both the ladies serving me in the self paying and the normal checkout left me feeling quite targeted and discriminated as when they were speaking to other customers they were nice and welcoming but when it was our turn they did nor treat us in the same kindness as the others

Shelves on salad and help yourself salad trays were all just about empty. What was there wasn't looking at it's best.6 pm on a Thursday i was there.

Terrible self checkouts. Tried to help an elderly gentleman get out the gates at the end of the self checkout, no joy as the gates would not open. Finished my shopping and tried to help him again..still no joy then a snotty lady member of staff asked me if I had bought anything (I am clearly holding a bag and a receipt at this point) to be told the elderly gentleman was in the way as he hadn't bought anything and belittled me for trying to help. No apologies to the elderly chap, just a sullen sarcastic response to me. Absolutely ridiculous system. Felt so sorry for the chap.

I shop at Morrison more than anywhere else...ubitil recently, that I now spend more at Sainsbury's now.
