I have not stayed in the hotel but I regularly visit for a meal and a couple of pints of Guinness! A nice and very large area for seating of various types from cosy little corners to booths. The area with vinyl flooring allows dogs and the carpeted area doesn't. Outdoor seating and parasols at the front and a car park at the rear where you pay £1 and get the cost taken off your first order. Live music regularly, of a good standard and normal prices, what's not to like.Nearby activities: Located in the town centre and not far from the riverside park which is worth a visit alone. The park is next door to the Durham county cricket ground and Lumley castle. All recommend.Food & drinks: A good selection of food on the menu and daily specials on the board, many that don't include chips!! Guinness and some real ales served by friendly staff. A nice place to visit.

Came in here on a Thursday night for drinks only. It was quiet and they had sky sports on the TV which was brilliant.The woman behind the bar was friendly, chatty and polite. Drinks were reasonably priced too. Would come back again if I am in the area.

Service here is okay, not the price, paying upwards to £4+ for a single pint -_-Those are city prices, definitely not worth going anymore.

Being a Chester le Street resident my wife and I often call in to sample breakfast which is good value for money, however we think the staff serving at the bar need a big shake up they are very poor I would say verging on ignorant.On our most recent visit we were served coffee that was Luke warm on complaining in a polite way we were told that is the way it comes from the machine in other words take it or leave it, following that we were given dirty looks and ignored when leaving the premises, we will not be back another customer lost hello Wetherspoons.Food & drinks: Breakfast value for money, staff terrible.

Conveniently close to Durham cricket ground. Large comfortable room, warm & quiet with a decent clean bathroom. Plenty of hot water. Great breakfast too.But take your own shampoo & hair dryer

Staff often ignore customers whilst chatting amongst themselves, signage for car park says you pay then get refund but refused refund at bar then told I was wrong about sign, walls and curtains are paper thin in the rooms so good luck getting any sleep. Staff need basic customer service training, car park signage needs updating and rooms need bringing out of the 70s

Accès handicappé moteur déconseillé en raison de marches dans l'établissement. Je suis venu uniquement boire un café. Le lieu est superbe, un pub où l'ambiance peut être chaudes devant un grand écran de télé dans un endroit légérement à l'écart. Mais le lieu est tellement grand que l'on peut s'installer plus loin pour être tranquille.
