Me and my partner came tonight for food... absolutely beautiful atmosphere..food was beautiful...we were never pestered from the moment we sat down...we were given time to look at the drinks menu, ordered drinks and were left to look at the food menu..ordered food..left to enjoy without being asked if everything was ok untill he collected plates..(which is how we think it should be). definitely 100% recommend.. definitely be going again.

We had a fantastic meal here! Great service and a very warm welcome. The food was also great: freshly made pasta and very tasty sauces. My son also loved his steak. Very highly recommended.

This residence is outrages. I found condoms on my bedside draws which must have been from the last people who stayed. There was a dog barking all night and some cows ended up in the garden???. The food was quite nice but i was dissapointed with my lasagna as it was soft on outside and rock hard on the inside. There was a chef staring at me i think he was called maxwell and someone said he had autism. i can not understand why they would put him in the kitchen making tiramesu.

We spent two nights at La Fattoria. On both evenings we ate in the restaurant - the food, cooked by Max, service and wine were exceptional. We would recommend La Fattoria to everyone and of course will return whenever we're near Durham.

My husband and I stayed overnight and I am glad it was only one night. Positives; The bed was a super king size and was clean. The room was clean but felt very basic. The towels were fresh, clean and fluffy always a good thing. The b&b being on the outskirts of town was to our liking, some peace and quiet in a nice area. Now for the negatives, on arriving we were met by the owner and he requested we parked on the muddy grass, as his restaurant can be busy and he didn't want our car to be bumped. I have walking difficulties so this was not ideal plus it meant you were taking mucky shoes into the accommodation. Next he put the payment machine in front of my husband and requested we pay, this was extremely rude and not a nice welcome. Much better to have seen your room and had a good night stay before asking for money. The room was clean but felt poorly done , cheap furniture and the couch for 2 was most uncomfortable. The pillows on the bed were so flat and most uncomfortable. The bathroom needed some TLC, mould around the window , the ceiling and into the shower, ( HEALTH HAZOURED). The heat alarm too close to bathroom door, so alarm going off when the shower from steam. When you open the window, it's at the front of the building so everyone coming or going can see you in the shower as it's a low window. The restaurant, was very basic and the food too.Having seen into the kitchen, the cooker range was filthy and the baking in the wall was full of build from brown filthy oil. The breakfast was awful and had obviously been deep fried, I couldn't eat it. One cup of coffee only, nit acceptable. The owner shuffled around going through the motions with his dirty, chefs outfit. We would definitely not stay again. I think this place has the potential to be fantastic how sad.

I?ll deal with the positives first: a) The room and building was very clean. b) The bed was comfortable. c) The shower was really good but nowhere to put anything in the shower cubicle. So, now the negatives: a) Our arrival at the time we stated (1700) seemed to take the Italian owner/manager by surprise, there was no welcome of any kind, not even a smile, just a grunt, virtually the first thing he said was ?One seventy? I said what do you mean, he replied ?Its? one seventy? I realised that he wanted me to pay immediately, the bags and my passengers were still in the car at this point. He showed me the rooms we were allocated, which seemed very clean and looked adequate. b) The room was cold and it wasn?t until a couple of hours later that the heating came on. c) Due to its remote location we ate in the restaurant that forms part of this new venture, despite our expectations our meals were appalling, the starters were expensive rubbish, the main courses were not restaurant quality, I?ve had better from Morrisons. This man is clearly not a trained Chef, not even a gifted amateur, I?m a man who cooks and I?m definitely much better than him. d) The following morning my wife and I were using the bathroom when a flexihose behind the sink pedestal feeding the cold tap burst and such was the incredibly high water pressure that the bathroom flooded almost immediately, we were both frantically trying to stop it and use towels to soak up the water, my wife ran downstairs to the kitchen to alert our Italian friend (very little English) that there was a serious problem, he raced up to our room where he found me in my underpants with a towel wrapped around the pipe gripping fiercely to try and stem the deluge. He rushed downstairs to turn off the water. He came back with a mop and bucket which I offered to use to mop up the remaining water whilst he went to get on with our breakfasts. I told him what had happened, he didn?t understand the phrase ?a burst pipe? but became hostile towards me, clearly he thought I had caused this. e) A few minutes later, now dressed, we went down for breakfast where with a face like thunder he grunted and pointed to a table set for 3 people, an older woman, clearly Italian and most probably his mother, walked past us 2 or 3 times and just completely ignored us, her expression was also hostile. There was no cereal, no orange juice, just tea and coffee and then the poorest ?English breakfast? that I?ve ever had, a single egg, a tiny single rasher of uncooked bacon, a sausage, a few baked beans and a slice of burnt toast. No tomatoes, no mushrooms, no hash browns, nothing. The Italian lady served us, with a grunt, never a word of welcome, no ?good morning? or anything from either of them, just hostility. I was disgusted with the whole thing but felt that it would be pointless trying to argue with someone who cannot speak English. f) A few minutes later, having collected our stuff I went to give him the keys, another grunt and a wave was all we got, never saw him smile, never a word of thanks even though we had spent over £230 there for one night and a rubbish meal. g) It is abundantly clear that these people have no experience in running a B&B and have no idea how important hospitality is, how to greet your guests, how to apologise if anything goes wrong and how to be grateful that someone has parted with their hard earned money to stay with you. I WOULD NEVER DREAM OF STAYING HERE AGAIN, NOT EVEN FOR FREE.

Stayed for one night, arrived around 4pm and I was shown to my room, it was all brand new and still smelled of new carpet. Lovely and clean with all the amenities that anyone would need. Tea and coffee in the room and lovely clean linens. We booked a table in the restraunt for the evening and we arrived early but were seated immediately from the waitress and were asked if we wanted drinks (she was great all night) Food was beautiful, Fresh home made and authentic. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone. The owners were lovely and very welcoming. Slept like a log as bed was so comfortable. Went for breakfast the next morning and again great service and lovely light breakfast with a cup of coffee. Will definitely be back ?
