Came here for food (after the kitchen was closed) and when I asked if they were still serving, they kept the kitchen open for the three of us out of the goodness of their hearts.
Fantastic service and warm and welcoming it was like I?d known them for years how they spoken to me.
Very busy day for the 2 people working they said and they still made room and time for us to have some drinks and food.
Lovely little local pub, the food was made with love and tasted great (lasagne, steak burger and carbonara bake) ?? everything was cooked to perfection.
Would highly recommend and will be going back 100%

We were staying locally and popped in here one evening for a meal, the welcome was friendly and the food cooked fresh to order, arrived piping hot, was reasonably priced and tasty. We returned later in the week having enjoyed our evening the first time round. We were remembered and had a lovely chat about our week.

What a strange reception i got on entering the pub as a hiker in the rain. Firstly waited far too long for comfort for the lady to even go behind the bar to welcome me. I asked if they had any gluten free beers and the fun began, it became a bar wide debate on what it even is, the landlady asked me if i was joking, is there such a thing ?i was then asked where I?m from, i said not far away but moved away many years ago. She then asked have i been in prison and is it safe to serve me ? On a plus side the fish pie was tasty if not hot. Yes this is true, July 15th 2025

This a nice, down to earth pub. There are good 80s music videos on the television. The landlord and chef are really helpful. There is a friendly atmosphere. The food is freshly cooked and good value (great chips). I had the cheese and broccoli bake.
I'll go again. They like dogs.

Booked last minute on the way back from the NC500 and was greeted with a very warm welcome.
The room was clean and well presented with fresh towels available one the bed.
We had dinner in the pub and ordered from the specials board, we were not disappointed it was freshly made and delicious. We enjoyed the evening playing pool with the locals and were made to feel very welcome by both the hosts and locals alike.
Overall a great stay and a comfortable night.

Food and drinks: We are staying in a nearby village for holiday. Had dinner here tonight and we really enjoyed it. The food, vegan curry and sirloin steak, was served quickly and was tasty. The dessert, apple blueberry crumble with ice cream, was also delicious.
The friendly owner/hostess is very attentive and provided us with a few walking tips in the area. In short, highly recommended and if we can, we will come back again this week.

Lovely people running this place! We were doing the coast to coast and I'd hurt my ankles, the landlady couldn't be more helpful! She was a massive help! The food was outstanding, rooms were so clean! Cant recommend enough!

WE VISITED THE PUB FOR EVENING MEAL, THE LANDLORD AND LANDLADY WHERE VERY WELCOMING AND FRIENDLY, THE PUB HAS A POOL TABLE WHICH IS GREAT ? I HAD FISH & CHIPS AND MY HUBBY HAD SIRLOIN STEAK AND WOWWW IT WAS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, 100% RECOMMENDED, WE AREN'T BIG EATERS BUT WE COULDN'T LEAVE ANY IT WAS TOO NICE ? WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE GOLDEN LION FOR DRINKS AND FOOD. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Very dog friendly.
Called in for food and drinks. Good selection and reasonably priced.
Food and drinks: Food was excellent. We all chose a different option from the menu (curry, fish pie, burger, gammon) and enjoyed them thoroughly. Good portion size too. Happy diners.
