I ate and drank here twice. Great welcome to customers and their dogs. Great range of beers and special offers on Monday and Tuesday. Nice food-especially the curry and great service

It was the only place open for evening meals on a Sunday in Barnard Castle. The proprietor was very welcoming and helpful and the meal was lovely. Nice setting with sheltered outdoor seating. Good range of craft beers and drinks. Family friendly too.

Ok for a good pint . Room dated . Shower en suite tatty .
Break average. Under cooked egg raw in the middle sausage..
Location of Barnard castle is spot on .

Food was not very good we stopped for a Sunday roast, it wasn't very nice.
Burnt yorkshire pudding weird sauce around beef almost like watery Greece, roast potatoes rock hard, hard under cooked frozen carrots, bit of broccoli that was ok and a few Peas, mash was probably the best part. Really disappointed ?

We've visited this quirky fabulous Inn several times in the last few years and have thoroughly enjoyed it. However, yesterday afternoon having frequented this with my invalid husband we had the misfortune to encounter the local Rotarians, one of which was exceptionally rude to my husband and I, told us to move as they were locals who live here etc. and wanted the other 4 men to join them, basically just RUDE. Not the pubs fault but a shame that the owners had just left, given that the landlady is the deputy mayor. Not a good experience, as the Inn/pubs would not survive with just the Rotary Club.

Great stay at the inn. Bar was very welcoming with some great local ales. Would recommend the food and in particular the Butter chicken Naanza ?. Only gave 4 for room as ensuite was a bit dated. Parking was on road but outside the inn it was all day. Would definitely stay again if ever there again.

Quirky little pub/inn. Possibly the oldest in Barnard Castle. Food was absolutely delicious, highly recommended. Indian, English, Chinese and Lebanese and Thai food available.

A good inn without airs and graces, comfortable and welcoming in a good position in the town. We enjoyed our visit.
