We stayed at the Fox and Hounds for the first time since our usual location in Romaldkirk had just gotten crazy expensive. We were on the last leg of our UK bike tour. Rooms were comfortable and the food excellent. Lovely place for us to stop and the owner was fantastic! Definitely a recommendation for the future! Just loved the small living room they had as part of the accommodation. We were able to take our drinks upstairs and relax in private!

We stayed just one night, it was quiet, super friendly and clean, but the extraction from the kitchens does not work and the accommodation is infused with frying oil, it?s a shame because they clearly try very hard.

We have been to the Fox & Hounds many times over the last few years and once again we found it to be absolutely fantastic with a great range of lovely food - this was one of the last times that we managed to get away with our boxer dog as she died suddenly in July but we will definitely be back again In May 2024 with hopefully a new boxer puppy.

Very friendly pub serving some good food a very nice local ale. Sadly dogs are not allowed in the main bar (which had the open fire) but a side room that lacked the warmth and charm of the main bar.

Excellent Sunday Lunch.Plentiful and cooked to perfection. Sat in the dog friendly area with our hound and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Great service and a clearly well run pud with staff working hard to satisfy their customers. Highly recommended and you should book in advance from our experience.

The food was amazing and portions were generous. I would highly recommend stopping in for a bite to eat. The staff at the Fox and Hounds absolutely fantastic.

Great menu if you like pork! I disagree with the pub being vegetarian friendly. Minimal customer service, told where we were seated but shown even being the first people there. Out of the limited menu I chose fish and chips ( as did all the adults) , skin left on the fish, extremely greasy, cold mushy peas. When asked for tarte sauce, we got 1 small pot between 4 adults. When asked for vinegar we were given white vinegar?? Is malt vinegar given with fish and chips. No atmosphere ? very disappointing from the previous reviews and the website.

It's a good pub don't get me wrong, but, I walked around 7 mile around there, I was thirsty and hungry. I got a Pepsi but they stopped serving food at 1 : 30 but it was 1 : 37. I asked if they could make an exception, but that didn't work. I had to walk back another 7 mile. They really need to stop serving at 3:00.

We went to the Fox and Hounds for dinner on a Tuesday a little out of season, which from experience of other village pubs can be a bit too quiet, slow service etc but that wasn't our experience here at all. It was lovely! There was a warm atmosphere when we walked in, a nice atmosphere with a few people at the bar already. The food was really excellent - homemade, fresh and large portions of proper food. Not greasy pub grub but also not gastro pub. We had homemade steak, blackpudding and mushroom pie with chunky chips and vegetables, and their 'pork platter' (gammon, sausage, blackpudding, egg) with chunky chips. This worked as a dairy free option for our lactose intolerant diner. The only tiny suggestion I would have would be to add a vegetable to the 'pork platter but aside from that I wouldn't fault anything. Highly recommended!!

Booked a table. On arrival checked in at the bar to be pointed in the direction of our table (separate area for folk with dogs, which is absolutely fine). Hurriedly told soup and pie of the day whilst handed menus. Fish batter soggy, chips greasy, plate swimming in mushy peas. I picked at the fish which appeared to still have the skin on the underside. I ate very little. When I asked for the bill, told to pay at the bar which dogs were not allowed? On paying I noticed a ?specials board?. Never mentioned/offered and no signs in the area I was seated. Most likely I wouldn?t have been unable to eat any of specials either if they were of the standard c the fish. It would have been nice to have been given the choice.
