it saddens me to leave a negative review of any venue in Weymouth when they all work so hard to keep the town vibrant. Friday evening, popped in for a beer and a quick bite with 3 others. Food ordered, a tomato salad that contained 4 cherry tomatoes (8 halves) and the sharing nachos with chilli. Salsa on nachos appeared to come from a squirty bottle and had no body other than liquid. portion of chilli small enough to maybe count as a starter portion, definitely not a sharing platter. Would normally have a conversation with management but unable to because of noise levels. Bar had a band playing. Not stunning, not atrocious, but very very loud. Saw 3 tables leave. Not the band's fault, they were giving their all and had been booked by the venue. Orders at the bar had to be shouted at the bar staff and repeated a couple of times. Not a good venue choice but at least keeping live music alive. Sadly this has removed The Ship from our visit/reccomend list. Try it yourself, your experience may be better.

I commented on the poor veg served with my fish pie. The waitress was very rude and said Why and walked off. Left feeling really annoyed and disappointed. Just felt the chef should know when something is not right. The waitress felt differently. Will never go back, and we are locals.

My husband had a fish pie which he was looking forward to eating as unavailable on every other occasion we have eaten there. No prawns in the fish pie and a very very small portion for the price. Absolutely ridiculous. Would not recommend!!!!!!!!'n

New Years Day 2pm tall barman insisted on arguing with me over my drinks order. As I own a freehold pub I never order packaged coke drinks in a pub. I only buy bottled coke. as I know a pint of coke is £4 plus and it?s sickly and the profit margin is huge. So I asked for a bottle of coke. The bar person poured me a pint of coke. He then argued over the order, when I said I did not want a pint of sugar . So I left without paying £12 for the drinks. Typical managed house service. Bad training bad attitude.

Booked a table for 10 on boxing day. Communication was really great - pre-booking the meals and dealing with my request to bring along a birthday cake. We had a table overlooking the harbour, which kept the children entertained watching the boats. The food was great and brought out to us promptly. Service was fantastic - I didn't get the name of the person serving us, but they were really helpful and polite. Couldn't have asked for more

Lovely spot on the harbour and great that dogs are welcome. I ordered two glasses of wine and a packet of crisps. One regular and one large. I was charged £18.05 for this. Thought this was pretty overpriced. I was then poured two medium glasses and I questioned which one was large. The barman then said "oh did you want a large?, oh wait yeh I charged you for a large didn't I?" With that instead of pouring a large glass again he topped one glass with a bit more wine. So .....I paid about £4.00 for a small top up? Must say that is not what I call a large wine and should have been in a different glass. Nice place though. Might return when I have won the lottery.

We dined at the ship inn for my birthday its best to book a table as it gets very busy. I was given a free prosecco since it was my birthday. The food orders were given in at the bar and we didnt wait long for our starters which were large portions. I enjoyed the prawn cocktail, my daughter had whitebait and hubby had a large dish of chicken strips. All lovely. Two of us had Chilli con carne which was very nice, one had the pie which he enjoyed. But hubby had the flat iron steak which unfortunately was not a good cut so he couldnt eat it. They did refund the steak. Worth a visit.

Had our Christmas meal here. The food was delicious and the portions were really large, compared with some restaurants. The staff were excellent and very attentive. Another plus, the prices were very reasonable.

Despite being part of a group of 47 the service was great. I was really impressed with the quality of the food. The food was fresh and hot. I will definitely be back and would recommend to others.

Only Bristol cathedral Canons manage such a welcome. It turns out that you should know you can only eat if you book in advance. Wonderful eh?

Had a lovely evening meal here, lovely people, great service and the food was lovely. 2 double cheeseburgers, a steak pie and a children?s burger, all nice and hot, really tasty stuff. Followed up with some puds ?, just a lovely place to sit and enjoy food.

Nice roaring fire. Great location. Decent beers. Food was good . I had a steak pie and mash. Menu not extensive. But a large busy pub in a popular spot. Worth a vist and we went there twice.View in picture is across the water from the Ship which is just out of shot to the left.

We had a booking for 6 for a birthday celebration whilst we were on holiday. We arrived half an hour early and the table was ready, so we were able to sit which was really helpful. There were 6 adults and 2 dogs. Whilst the pub was ?dog friendly? there was no additional food items available to order for pets or water bowls given. I?d say there were more allowed in rather than welcomed. However, we bring all our own gear, so we weren?t worried. I feel like we had arrived at a bad time or on a bad day. The two staff members we met were so unhappy. When we ordered drinks and food it felt like you?d asked for a kidney. Everything seemed like such an effort. But it just made us all feel quite uncomfortable. I?m sorry if something bad had happened, but I can only explain that it brought the mood down so much that we left after main course and got dessert somewhere else. I must mention though that the food was absolutely delicious. I had macaroni cheese with a side of their triple cooked chips. Heaven! I have no doubt that if we?d come on a different day we would probably have had better service. I would return for the food alone. I absolutely can?t fault the food it was lovely!

The pub is actually quite nice, little on the pricey side, food is overall decent but no price on the kids meal and had to ask before ordering. Pub was very busy and raining when we went. Father in law is disabled and couldn't sit the family together due to him being unable to sit on a high stool. Luckily a nice couple let him and our son sit with them. Food was of decent quality and we ate. Sadly in a pub with at least 15 dogs in and busy, we were sat by the toilet door and every time the door was opened our dogs barked. After we had finished the barman shouted over to us that they were a dog friendly pub but if the dogs kept barking we would be asked to leave. It was a difficult situation due to how busy it was due to raining and proximity to the toilet door and dogs constantly walking past (also barking). The barman didn't have the decency to come over and have a conversation and we were stopping the dogs when they did bark. Luckily we had finished our food and promptly left the pub. Ironically later in the afternoon we went to a different pub The White Hart and no such issues.
