Yesterday evening, our family of four (two adults and two children) dined at The Kitchen and experience was delightful?almost entirely faultless.
Service & Atmosphere
From the moment we arrived, the service was exemplary: attentive, personable, and perfectly pitched for both adults and children. The open?plan design of the restaurant offers an engaging view of the kitchen in action, lending a relaxed yet refined ambience. The lighting, acoustics, and layout combined to create a thoroughly enjoyable dining environment.
Food & Presentation
Every dish we tried was beautifully executed ? from inventive starters to satisfying mains. The pizzas, the burgers and the pork chops showcased fresh local ingredients and were thoughtfully plated.
Mash (and the Mint Oil Issue)
My only caveat concerns one side dish?the mashed potatoes. What arrived tasted more like a mint oil showcase than a potato dish. The intense mint oil masked the creamy potato beneath, meaning the taters were unable to shine through. On the menu, the mash was listed plainly (without prominent emphasis on mint), so for those who aren?t mint aficionados, it may come as an unexpected?and overpowering?flavour.
Overall The Kitchen at Chewton Glen offers a wonderfully relaxed yet stylish dining experience. Service was top?tier, the atmosphere superb, and most dishes were spot on. Just be cautious if ordering the mash?its mint oil flavour may overwhelm those not keen on mint.We would happily return and would recommend the restaurant for its approachable, well?crafted menu, family?friendly setting, and attentive service?with one small note to the kitchen about giving the potatoes a little more room to shine.

Walked in unannounced and was immediately seated despite only 10 minutes of service to go. Very friendly staff all professionally dressed and with the right attitude. We only orded a couple of pizzas but they were delicious and piping hot.
Was more than happy to pay the service charge and the other guests food that was being delivered also looked great.
Superb place for a chilled lunch. We sat outside which was very relaxing

Birthday lunch for 3 today .. arrachinni was good . Salt and pepper squid ok. Crackling was rather like crisps.. 3 dissapointing burger. Lacked flavour. 3 very good dessert . £6.50 for a tea. And same for a coffee is very expensive . £192. I do feel is rather expensive. Very pleasent sat outside . However not worth the money. Have had much better for a little less money . 70th birthday wasn't acknowledged at all.

Where do I even begin?
This isn?t just a hotel restaurant ? and certainly not your usual stuffy affair.
We visited The Kitchen at Chewton Glen for my wife's birthday, and it was perfect.
Chewton Glen itself is hands down one of the most quintessentially English hotels I?ve stayed at. Strangely, despite many visits, I?d never been to The Kitchen ? which is tucked away in the grounds, separate from the main hotel. Safe to say, I?m already planning my return (my diet will just have to forgive me).
First of all, you don?t need to be a guest to dine here. We kicked off with the squid starter, and honestly ? it was so flavour-packed that we ordered another. We weren?t the only ones either. I?d have shamelessly gone for a third if my wife hadn?t stepped in. (No regrets. Just respect.)
The setting? Sublime. Outdoor seating, perfect for an alfresco experience ? especially if the weather?s playing nice. From the host to the waitress, we were welcomed with warmth. Zero pushiness. Just great vibes.
Now, the mains. I had the buttermilk chicken burger ? because the venue is more laid-back, and it felt right. And wow? probably the best chicken burger I?ve had in the past five years. Juicy, seasoned to perfection. My wife went for the monkfish tail ? equally impressive.
And dessert?
Let?s just say? I?m still dreaming about their sticky toffee pudding. Enough said.
All in all, for £170 between two (starters, mains, desserts, and cocktails), it?s not the cheapest ? but absolutely worth every penny. You?re paying for outstanding food, impeccable service, and a genuinely relaxed atmosphere.
Would I go back? 100%. Guest or not.

Wanted somewhere special for my wife's Birthday and the Kitchen didn't disappoint. Exemplary efficient service by Tim and his team, fresh, flavoursome and creative dishes by the talented chefs and fresh punchy coctails made to order. A thoroughly enjoyable evening. Thank you.

I had a three course meal for two, as a Birthday present. We had a scrumptious meal, beautifully presented. We were atttended by Wallis, who was a smiley, friendly girl. Nothing was too much trouble for her. The atmosphere was lovely, and l hope l get a repeat of the present.
Well done to all the Kitchen, and especially Wallis. Wonderful lunch!

My wife and I enjoyed a nice meal in pleasant surroundings. Our server was very good, however our food was disappointing. My ham pizza was not nearly as good as I had hoped. The fried shrimp appetizer was bland and not flavorful. The kitchen apple for dessert was delicious.

Heard wonderful things about The Kitchen so we?d thought we?d try it out. Off to a good start with polite staff, explaining the menu, all good.
Waitresses were new so a few issues but nothing major.
It wasn?t until dessert that it all fell apart.
A large table of 12 adjacent to us had arrived, and to say they took up the majority of the waiting staff (due to the language barrier) was an understatement. Asked 3 times for the bill then waited 15 minutes, asked 2 waiters later, finally a rushed member of staff could see our frustration and grabbed the card machine.
Good experience up until then as we were ignored due to the large table.
Food was ok but the chicken curry lacked in depth.
