Gem of an independent restaurant tucked away behind the main street. The menu consists of bistro classics with an emphasis on local seafood: this can often mean mediocre standards or laziness in the kitchen, but not here. The cooking, presentation and service were a delight, with a real sense that the whole team were eager to please, even on a busy Saturday in August. Price point is very fair for the quality, wine mark-ups are reasonable and well worth seeking out: a restaurant that deserves to thrive.

My wife and I finally made our first visit last week, and it won't be our last. Friendly, polite and efficient staff, who were so attentive at the right times. A fantastic choice of menu, and extremely enjoyable food. We weren't rushed, and we will be back. A word of advice for other diners who haven't been before - you need to probably book as it's that popular and that good. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

I had the trio of prawns, smoked salmon and local crab to start, and the local plaice with local crab for my main course. The food was cooked to perfection, and the staff were great.

£35 set menu 2 courses can have 3 courses too £42 . May 24. I had smoked duck slices with celeriac slaw and pea shoots, amazing, then saddle Welsh lamb fresh veg Inc red cabbage and huge portion dauphonaise potato, beautifully cooked . Friendly staff.

Another fantastic dining experience last night - spoilt for choice with the menu but, after scrumptious starters, we plumped for the daily specials of beef bourguignon and skate wing and then yummy desserts. Lovely welcome by Kirsty, excellent cuisine by Andrew and all the staff are great. We?ve been going to Chilled Red on and off since 2007 and love it.

Great welcome, friendly staff and imaginitive menu. Fabulous fresh fish and reasonably priced wine. We will be back. Not the easiest place to find - it's in a pedestrian precinct but well worth the effort.

Chilled Red in Swanage is an absolute gem of a restaurant. The staff here are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food is out-of-this-world amazing, and the wine selection - top-notch! If you're in Swanage, don't miss it. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! ???
